Today I woke up to a broken website. So, I took it upon myself to do what I've been putting off for a while, and completely revamp the whole thing! I've not been the best over the years about blogging all of my documentary family sessions, but now it'll be even easier to do so. I love this work so much, and as my business grows and more wedding clients are starting families and having me documenting their lives, this is becoming a larger chunk of the work I do each year and I LOVE it.

My favorite thing about Maui isn’t the mountains or the beach. It’s not even the honu or the koholā. It’s the nights with the Nelson family.

Since 2018 I’ve been visiting and photographing the Nelson family roughly once a year *cough*covid*cough*. Their home has become my home away from home and their family a part of my chosen family.

My favorite favorite thing is when I get to be a part of people’s lives for all of it. Shannon and Zach were a Covid couple so we’ve been through it all. Engagement session, rescheduling the wedding, having a small wedding one year and a big one the next, and now welcoming their first wonderful sweet babe 🤍

I really, really love doing “A Night in the Life” sessions. It’s my favorite. Last night with Kelly, Colin, Ford, Baby Oscar, and old man puppy baby Marv was everything I love about them. Capturing the love and joy in the beautiful chaos that is the every day.

I love nothing more than joining a family on a fairly typical family outing and capturing the joy and beauty of life in this moment. Life changes and it changes fast. Some day in the not too distant future, you’ll miss the days your kids could just go and have fun at a playground for hours. Speaking from experience, as a parent to a (almost) 12 and 14 year old. Ordinary life is beautiful and it is worth capturing and remembering. These photos help form the memories our kids will have of their childhood. It’ll remind them of how much fun they had and how loved they are.

I photographed Shuchita and Jay’s wedding almost 10 years ago and I am so honored to be their family’s photographer for life ❤️

It’s wild to have been a part of Karen and Thom’s lives for over a decade and to have known these incredible kids their whole lives. Days like today remind me how lucky I am. To capture real connection, to watch families grow, and to have clients who become friends.

The best part of is getting to document every part of a couple’s journey. From engagement to wedding, on to growing their families. I can’t wait to meet their little one in January 🥰
