The long-awaited galactic core season is here! To celebrate, here’s my image of the North America nebula - NGC 7000.
I went ahead and corrected the issue from my last post, giving a more realistic view of the target.
This image was captured through Sulfur, Hydrogen, and Oxygen filters, which I assigned to the Red, Green, and Blue color channels, respectively, giving this beautiful blue-green hue to the image. This is the same process used by the Hubble!
In reality, the North America Nebula has very bright red color due to its strong Hydrogen Alpha emissions. Assigning Hydrogen to green instead of red helps enhance the image contrast and gives our weak little eyes a better glimpse into the night sky.
