We couldn’t let this backdrop go to waste.

Looking back on our trip to Hawaii, these are some of our favorite images we brought home.

It’s easy to fill your camera roll with snapshots while you’re traveling, but every once in a while it’s worth slowing down for a few intentional portraits. The scenery is incredible, the memories are fresh, and years from now you’ll be just as grateful you took the time.

Whether you’re on a tropical vacation, spending a weekend at Lake Tahoe, or exploring somewhere close to home, beautiful locations have a way of making your photos even more meaningful.

Hawaii, thanks for the memories. We’ll be looking back on these for a long time. 🤍

Remember when we talked about what people really mean when they ask for “”natural”” photos?

This is exactly what I was talking about.

We’re out by the lake. Beautiful scenery. Gorgeous evening light. And yes... we’re still using professional lighting.

Why?

Because the goal isn’t to make the photo look lit. The goal is to make you look your best while keeping everything feeling true to the moment.

Professional lighting helps bring out catchlights in your eyes, softens harsh shadows, balances bright skies, and creates a polished image that still feels effortless. Most people never notice it’s there, and that’s exactly the point.

The best “”natural”” portraits don’t happen by leaving the gear at home. They happen because every detail is working together to create a photo that feels authentic without looking overly produced.

Every once in a while, a session leaves us speechless.

Some photo shoots are memorable because of the final images, others are unforgettable before we even press the shutter.

This one was both.

From the golden light to the incredible location (and some very photogenic horses), every part of this evening reminded us why we love what we do.

A bit of eduction.. What does “natural” mean to you when it comes to portraits?

Do you want natural feeling portraits where you still look your best? Or will you be okay with no direction of how to hold yourself and take a chance with poor lighting?

Hiring a professional to direct and use professional lighting goes a long way to create natural photos you are going to actually love.

We took a solid vacation for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our time on the Big Island 😍

It was our first time doing a Hawaii trip together, and it was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.

It’s hard to make a highlight reel of everything, but I think this sums it up pretty well 🌺

The Manta Ray night scuba dive was seriously cool! Couldn’t believe how close they got to us. If you go to the Big Island, be sure to do the night snorkel or scuba trip.
