One of the interesting things about shooting at a small track how often repeat races happen. These 2 meet up often, and even more now with the 7.0 index. Maybe one day the black C-10 will get in the far lane and I can get this image but inverse. Either way I'm starting to get a good collection of pictures of Mark James and Darrell-Tracy Cramer in some good old fashioned side by side drag racing as they're both 6.8x bracket cars, and both are regulars and at the 7.0 index shootout.

Didn't slack for once, of course I took a lot fewer pictures this weekend than I normally do. I was working on taking it easy, as I still wasn't 100% from the last treatment cycle. Can't thank everyone enough who checked on me, and asked how the treatments are going. Cancer hasn't been easy to deal with, but it makes it better knowing I have so many of you amazing people in my corner. I wanna thank the staff and crew at NNRA - Good Times Drag Strip as always for putting on a great event. The Real Performance Speed Shop Index Shootouts keep growing, and getting better every year. Side by side 6.03x passes in 6.0. Stacy Gomez organizes a hell of an event, and if you missed them this year you definitely need to come out next season. I'm sure Stacy will be putting on another once of these next year to try and dethrone the current King of the 6.0 Bryan King. I am doing a lousy job promoting this time around and I'm sorry. This treatment round, coupled with a new thyroid medication has been a rough one but I'm finally getting back to being normal (for me) just in time for this. We have a new canopy, and a bucket fan with mister we're going to try setting up a cold room for me at the track. Going to try that as a way to keep me cool. It'll be a good time regardless, Real Performance Speed Shop and Stacy Gomez put on a great show. Hopefully we'll get a few more cars in 6.0 and see if someone can take the bounty on Bryan King's head.

I get a lot of shocked looks when I tell people I'm fighting cancer, especially with my busy schedule. The thing is, I refuse to let this define me. I don't want to act like a sick cancer patient, and cancel my whole life and just be stuck. I keep working, doing photography, going on adventures, all to show this horrible disease I'm not going to let it get me. Some days are easier than others, and I definitely need to be better about listening to my body, but at the end of the day I'm not going to let cancer beat me or control me. I've worked too hard to let this take me out. big time, this is one of the worst things I've dealt with.

*Long post warning* I'm going to use some pictures from our Virginia & Truckee Railroad Company excursion for an update. These treatments are definitely kicking my ass. My thyroid is now reacting the other way, so I'm on a new thyroid medication. The doctor is still confident that I'm not showing signs of recurrence. During an ultrasound of my thyroid we found a calcium nodule on my right thyroid that's prompted more blood tests. I'm still trying to stay optimistic and busy. This weekend we have the Real Performance Speed Shop Index Shootout at Good Times in Winnemucca. Then another railroad event at the Carson City railroad museum, and the following weekend going to Felton, California for another train trip for my birthday coming up. I seriously never thought I'd be turning 39 while going through cancer treatments, but here we are. I'm trying not to let this stop me, but cancer treatments are definitely not for the weak. If you'd like to support I have prints for sale, and purchasing images from events helps greatly. Still team , not going to let this stop me.

Took a little break this weekend and went out to Carson to ride the Carson extension of the Virginia and Truckee Railroad. It was an all day adventure, with a 3 hour layover in Virginia City but it's definitely worth it. Got to explore some things up there I've never been to before, including the underground mine tour at the Ponderosa Saloon. More to come from this adventure before the Index Shootout.

We're closing in on the Real Performance Speed Shop index shootout. These are seriously some of my favorite events to get pictures at, Stacy Gomez works hard and puts on a hell of a show. It's also turning into a little bit of a Northern Nevada vs Southern Nevada with a strong group of Vegas racers coming up and dominating 6.0. Bryan King from Vegas has won the last two, and put a bounty on his own head to beat him in the index. So come on out, and have a great weekend with the crew at NNRA - Good Times Drag Strip and watch some good heads up index racing.

All done with the editing, and the Ranchero is ready to cruise tomorrow and Saturday. Been a rough week, but it's almost done.
