It always makes me laugh when someone says “It must be nice to only work a few weeks out of the year.”

Most people have no idea, but behind the scenes, this little Christmas world is very much a year-round adventure.
In fact, for Scot and me, Christmas didn’t end on December 25th.
As we prepare to celebrate our 10th season, we’ve spent much of this year dreaming, building, creating, and planning for what comes next.
A new website.
A refreshed logo.
New additions to the workshop.
Custom-designed teddy bears.
And a few surprises I’m not quite ready to share just yet.
But the projects closest to my heart are two children’s books I’ve been carrying with me for a very long time.
What makes this even more special is that the two illustrators I hoped I might someday work with both said yes.
I still can’t quite believe it.

Truthfully though, this season feels like so much more than a list of projects.
This year has felt a little like opening a door I didn’t realize had been closed.
Ideas that have lived quietly in my heart for years are finally finding their way into to the surface.
And for the first time in a very long time, I find myself dreaming faster than I can build.
That has been in incredible gift for my soul!
Season 10 is shaping up to be our most meaningful year yet.
We can’t wait to share what’s coming next!

Finding the right illustrator for my story Oliver Pippin has been more challenging than I expected. Bringing Oliver to life in the right way has felt incredibly important to me.

Then something unexpected happened while sitting in my Texas School of photography class.

When Corey McDonald walked into the room, I recognized him right away. I’ve admired his work for years—his attention to detail, his styling, and the level of care he puts into everything he creates. In my mind, he’s always held a bit of a “celebrity” status.

I had mentioned a couple of times throughout the week that I’d written a story about a little mouse, but it was more of a side note… not really the focus of why we were there.

On Thursday night at dinner, the conversation naturally opened up… and somehow turned into the possibility of Corey illustrating Oliver.

Tonight, we spent a couple of hours on Zoom, and I got to watch him begin bringing this little guy to life.

It’s hard to even put into words how that felt.

I love how two very different artists, with very different skills, can come together to create something bigger than either of us could on our own. This story is a piece of my heart, and I’m so grateful to watch Oliver take shape.

Two creative voices coming together to create something we hope feels lasting… maybe even something that finds its place in Christmas for years to come.

It’s a reminder…

you just never know who might become part of something meaningful in your life.

Sometimes it’s someone you’ve admired for years.

Sometimes all you have to do is ask.

And sometimes… it turns into more than you ever expected 🤍

Christmas is 9 months away, but for us it’s Santa’s Enchanted Workshop’s 10th Anniversary 🤍

We’re adding a few beautiful changes… and this is one of my favorites.

These are ROKR kits—intricate wooden models made up of hundreds of tiny pieces that come to life when they’re finished.

A Ferris wheel that turns.
A carousel that spins.
Hot air balloons that rise and fall.

And I’ll be honest… they stress me out just looking at them 😅

So many tiny pieces—I wouldn’t even know where to begin.

But Scot? He loves it.

Where I see a pile of parts, he sees exactly how it all comes together… and somehow turns it into something smooth, quiet, and beautiful.

Soon they’ll be tucked into the shelves, gently moving… adding life to the room.

And if you find yourself here this season…
no doubt you’ll love them too.

They’re perfectly Santa 🤍

Learning something new everyday.

When the thought came to me a year ago to publish a story that’s been living in my head for a very long time, I had no idea how to make it come to life.

I’m in the middle of figuring it out.

This story is so personal to me and I’m loving the growth opportunities this project brings. It’s coming together and I’m thrilled to share it soon!

My children grew up with a little mouse who visited our home each Christmas season, becoming part of the magic and wonder of the holidays in our family.

Over the years that little tradition stayed with me. And somewhere along the way, the story of a mouse began growing in my heart.

His name is Oliver Pippin.

A quiet little mouse with extra big ears and a very big heart. Oliver loves to listen for the goodness around him. He gathers those small stories of kindness and carries them back to share with Santa.

Oliver Pippin has slowly become an extension of the Christmas lore we’ve created here at Santa’s Enchanted Workshop.

This is a touching and beautiful story, and I’m excited to see it come to life.

I’m working with a manufacturer to produce Oliver as a plush companion to the storybook so families can bring him into their homes and start a new tradition.

This year marks our 10th anniversary at Santa’s Enchanted Workshop and we are thrilled to be introducing Oliver Pippin to our families and in time, to the world.

Creating a children’s book has been a much bigger learning experience than I expected. When I started looking for an illustrator in the style I love, I discovered it can take one to two years and easily cost $20,000 or more to commission the artwork.

Some may say we’re crossing to the dark side. We are diving into AI to help create the illustrations, and the learning curve is real. Thankfully we connected with someone who understands this space and is helping guide us.

Over the years I’ve chased a lot of big ideas. Some have completely flopped and others have turned into incredible wins. Through every one of those ideas, Scot has always said yes. He’s the quieter half of the two of us, but he’s been my steady partner through it all. Together we make a pretty good team.

I honestly have no idea what Oliver Pippin will become. But we’re learning so much along the way, and that already feels like a win.

So here we go… down the rabbit hole in search of a mouse.

Today was a research day.

I absolutely love the smell of books!

It’s shocking how many decisions go into producing a children’s storybook.

It took 10 months to write, 6 months trademark, now hours of figuring out editing and inlistrstions.

Went Barns and Noble’s…again to look at the difference size and layouts. Soooo many choices to make, but it’s so exciting to see it come to life!

✨ Today felt like it had an extra little pinch of magic. ✨

For the past several months, I’ve been working on a new little project that has completely stolen my heart.

His name is Oliver Pippin.

Today I received a phone call from my lawyer letting me know that his name is officially trademarked. 🎉

We began the process back in September, so it feels wonderful to finally see it become official.

I’ve written a story featuring this little mouse, and I’ve also developed him into a small plush companion that families will be able to welcome into their homes during the Christmas season.

Let me share a little bit about his story.

He is a small mouse who lives quietly in Santa’s workshop. While the elves are busy building toys and Santa is sketching new ideas, he moves softly through the room noticing the little things that are easy to miss. Helping hands, shared laughter, brave choices, and moments of kindness.

Santa soon realizes the little mouse has a very special gift.

He listens and notices the good things that happen when no one is looking.

And so each season, he is invited to travel into homes during the Christmas season, simply to listen, notice, and gather the small stories of goodness that happen each day.

Because those quiet moments of kindness are what truly make the world feel magical.

Today was another big step forward for this little project. I signed a contract with an editor who will help me finalize the manuscript, and I have officially begun the search for the illustrator who will bring his world to life.

We are also moving forward on an additional trademark for some things I will be sharing in the near future, which makes this whole adventure even more meaningful.

I have a feeling this little mouse may quietly become part of some very sweet Christmas traditions.

Welcome to the world, Oliver Pippin. 🐭
