Long winded post ahead and I’m sorry. It’s something that’s been on my mind and heart for almost two years and especially lately. It’s not for pity or anything of that nature. I just always believe in talking about all parts of the human experience, even the crappy ones.
Two years ago, something inside of me broke. Mostly my brain but also a little bit emotionally. I was always a human that had it together. For ten years I ran this business and I ran it pretty well. I was on top of my communication and service. I had a business that most photographers would kill for, I mean I I killed my brain to get there.
I tried for so many years to be something or give something to everyone and I ended up completely neglecting myself and my brain. I wanted to desperately to have this incredible business and see the Rhinelander community flourish. On top of trying to keep my kids alive and give them everything I could and be a mildly decent wife.
However, I think I hit burn out or some kind of mental break. I don’t know what else would cause you to completely lose all ability to be a put together human that can communicate and do their job. It’s not hard to answer emails, texts and messages. But, I just deeply struggle. They pile up and by the end of the day there’s dozens and then that seems so hard to sort through, on top of bedtime routines and getting ready for my own school day the next morning.
Long story short, I know I suck. I know I am failing so many people with doing my job. I wish more than anything that the human that was here a few years ago would come back and get rid of the intruder in my brain. I’m so sorry that I’ve failed so many of you. I have been slowly trying to bring this business down to a more manageable level but it’s so hard when you want more than anything to make all the people around you happy. Trying to narrow down clients is so painful, so I basically stopped communicating to everyone so it would happen naturally. It’s not right, but it’s how I survived.
This was so long winded and awful and I am not trying to gain sympathy or anything of that nature. But if you are a human that once had your life together and then all of the sudden it wasn’t, I see you and I feel you.
I love all of the people I’ve met through this business and I love getting to see all of the changes in your life, even if I don’t get to capture it anymore.
I’m not sure what my schedule for fall of 2026 will look like yet with the exception of my normal fall and tree farm minis and sports team photos, but I’ll have availability posted soon.
