This was one of my favorite encounters with a red-tailed hawk — America’s most widespread raptor, found from Alaska and Canada down through the United States, Mexico, and Central America.
What I love about this one is the fence post. Hahaha, I’m such a sucker for raptor-on-a-fence-post photography. Barbed wire is the cherry on top 😅

I’m starting a new Series of captures i took in last 10 months to showcase the importance capturing wildlife at golden hour, these two photos were taken last fall less than a month after i bought my first camera at sunset with fall foliage colors in the background. Thou it’s not the most detailed photo of a downy woodpecker, these two photos are two of my absolute favorites captures of all time. Tell me what you think about golden hour wildlife captures and drop yours below and tell your story to me. Tell me what kind of frames you chase?

Up close with a Northern crested caracara, also known as “Mexican Eagle” though not considered a rare bird, I haven’t been too lucky to get close to one until this happened during my south texas road trip last year, i went on this journey to explore south texas birds just two months after buying the camera, most of the photos i took during the trip was ruined due to heat haze however I left them in the external disk until I was able to find a chance to process them. To my surprise even though many of the photos were ruined by heat haze there were a few tell the story about this encounter, This specific individual landed right next to a stump where i had my car parked and allowed me to get some really good detailed shots. The Mexican eagle of Aztec legend specifically the sacred bird perched on a cactus eating a snake that signaled where to build Tenochtitlan is widely believed by historians to be a Crested Caracara rather than a golden eagle. Thought nick named Mexican eagle this raptor is a specie of tropical falcon. Hope you enjoyed the info and the photos i took.

Apologies for long absence, work had gotten busier than ever, hoping to share more photos soon. Stay tuned for something cool.

Thank you!

Personally my favorite photo of the series

Maybe my second favorite

Actually i like this one a lot too

Such a cool stance

Happy 250th Birthday America!!

Bald eagle was the first bird i wanted to capture the day i bought my camera, I remember it was few days after my birthday last year, once the 200-600mm lens got delivered I went straight to white rock lake and tried to capture Nick and Nora, Dalla's most famous bald eagle couple who nest at white lake, It's always a delight to be able to capture these majestic birds in an urban setting like Dallas.
Hope you like these shots i captured at the sunset.

On a side note: this is my first time trying capture video from my camera and first time trying to edit video. I learned a lot in a day. Hopefully this is an acceptable footage as my first video.. hope to spend some more time improving filming and photography in future. Thank you!

One of my top 5 favorite raptors in north America! Red tailed hawk, owner of iconic screaming eagle sound played when a bald eagle is on screen, this individual failed an attempt to hunt a cotton tailed rabbit just before the sunset. Hope you like these photos I took.

Most likely the cutest little fledgling you’ll see today, this right here is an eastern phoebe fledgling. Just before the sunset waiting for parents to bring in some dinner before dark.

Finally i was able to capture a photo of a yellow billed cuckoo
Fun fact, Individual cuckoos eat thousands of caterpillars per season, and during tent caterpillar outbreaks on the East Coast, they may devour as many as 100 caterpillars in a single sitting, rolling each one back and forth through the bill, likely to strip off the spiny hairs before swallowing. If you zoomed in to this one you may see caterpillars hair around its bill. What a fascinating and elusive specie of birds.

After days of trying I was finally able to find a Mississippi kite perched, Mississippi kite is a small raptor with striking red eyes, their diet mostly consists of bug, something fascinating about them is, their ability to devour bugs while in flight, 90% of time I’ve spotted they’re in flight. So happy to be able capture these detailed photos with their blazing red eyes perched on a tree.

One of my favorite photos I took so far, And one of the most underrated birds in America, The Double-crested Cormorant has one of the most striking eyes in the bird world, a vibrant aquamarine iris that almost looks artificial up close. This vivid eye color intensifies during breeding season, serving as a visual signal to potential mates. I’ll add the story behind the capture in a comment.
