Like you, I'm always working to stay on top of the latest info in my industry. So, I downloaded a report from, of all places, Reddit. Surprisingly, it contained so much great B2B info!

For years, I've been telling anyone that would listen that B2B buying habits have drastically changed over the years. Maybe you know this, too.

This has been called "The Dark Funnel" and it's the part of the buyer's journey that occurs before a potential customer engages with a company’s marketing or sales channels.

This report is massive proof that it's true.

The biggest takeaways?

************************

::: Buyers need unbiased info to make decisions and most have already made up their mind before you know they exist. :::

************************

What's your solution???

GIVE BUYERS THE INFO THEY WANT.

(Sorry, I know it's rude to shout...)

Give buyers the info they want whether it's on your website, a social media post or like a ransom note slipped under their door.

Some of this info can be widgets on your website, or vendor comparison tables, and some can be (in my biased viewpoint) video.

You already know that video is super-fantastico at building trust so use it when that matters most.

P.S.

Download the report from Reddit. (Link in the comments.)

Now, of course, Reddit is selling their advertising services, which is cool, but unfortunately, the report doesn't offer much in the way of solutions except "Advertise on Reddit." Which is ironic, because that's pretty biased. 😁

Is your B2B company guilty of doing “random acts of video?”

If so, I'll make a guess that it's ruining your video spend.

Believe me you’re not alone.

It’s the way most B2B companies use video.

Randomly.

It’s such a waste, and really, it makes me pretty angry because it doesn’t have to happen.

There IS a better way and I can show you how we’ve gotten over 10X returns for clients with video that’s implemented strategically.

And it's really a simple approach that fundamentally asks the question:

"How can we build trust with our prospects?"

If they trust you, they will be attracted to you naturally.

This approach to B2B video is NOT about "cinema" it's about getting more sales.

Quickly.

Two great types of video for this are:

+ Prospect FAQs

+ Video Case Studies

Your B2B company does NOT need a "Brand Video."

Most Brand Videos that I've seen - and I've seen a bunch - talk more about the company itself than their prospects, customers or clients.

I've seen entire 3-minute-long Brand Videos fail to mention their prospects or clients A SINGLE TIME.

To me, that makes it an Onboarding Video NOT a Brand Video.

And since your B2B company probably needs a good Onboarding Video, then just use it for that.

Here's how to tell whether your B2B Brand Video is worth showing to your prospects or clients:

+ If you use the words "we" or "us" more than "you" or "our clients" you probably have an Onboarding Video.

+ If you talk about your B2B company's History or founder, you probably have an Onboarding Video.

+ If you talk about how great your "people" or "products" or "services" are, more than your prospects' or clients' pain points, you probably have an Onboarding Video.

Ok, Mr. B2B Video Nerd, then what should we do/make instead of our "Onboarding Video?"

If you want to create an effective video that could live on your Home Page of your website and that has the potential to actually create a positive ROI for your biz, then I recommend you create a Video Sales Letter (VSL).

Why a Video Sales Letter?

+ Because this type of video speaks to your prospects.

+ It empathizes with whatever problem that they have that your solution can address/fix.

+ It gets them to know that you've solved this problem for others in similar situations.

+ It enables them to get to know and trust you.

+ It tells them the types of companies that you can help - and those that your really can't or don't want to.

+ It doesn't just spew out a ton of features of your solution but takes it to the point of showing them how they will benefit from those features.

But, you say, "that's all just a basic marketing and sales approach, Mark."

And I'd agree 100%.

The problem is that many video production agencies don't know the difference.

So, if you've found a video provider you like, make sure they know what you're trying to accomplish with this type of video and that they understand the difference between a "Brand Video" and an "Onboarding Video."

Well, here's a nice surprise from a client!

I've been running some Facebook Ads for my "Leading with Video" system and got this testimonial from a client in the comments of one of the Ads.

Thanks, Michael, you're the best!

Our "Leading with Video" system gives B2B sales and marketing leaders a clear path to pipeline.

It's a proven system that is guaranteed to get you a positive ROI.

(Have you EVER heard a video agency guarantee results like that???)

There's a link to a quiz in the comments to get you started on learning more.

Most video production companies hide their pricing.
I used to do it too.

"It depends" is a real answer — but it's not a helpful one when you're trying to budget for something.

So I built a full B2B Video Price Guide that shows you:

- What drives video costs UP (and down) → Real price ranges for nearly every B2B video type → An interactive calculator to build your own estimate
- Three tiers of our "Leading with Video" packages

No email opt-in. No form. No gatekeeping.

Just watch the video below for a quick walkthrough, then head to the page and explore on your own.

If you have questions about any of the numbers — just ask.

B2B video has historically been a marketing-led exercise.

The usual process went like this: the marketing team decided what videos might be useful, then produced a polished brand piece or two about the company, its history, or how great its products are.

But that model is backwards.

B2B buyers do not wake up wanting to learn more about your company.

They want to know whether your product or service can solve a real problem, reduce risk, and help them make a better decision.

You know, WIIFM. (What's in it for me?)

That is why B2B video MUST get input from the Sales team.

Sales Reps are closest to the buyer’s questions, objections, and decision points.

They know what prospects ask over and over.

They know where deals stall.

And they know which explanations would shorten the path from interest to trust.

So the better question is not:

“What video would be nice to have?”

Instead it's:

“What videos would help us generate better qualified leads and help those leads close faster?”

That shift changes everything.

Instead of generic brand videos (even if they're beautifully-produced), companies should focus on:

+ Prospect FAQ videos.

+ Customer story videos (Video Case Studies).

+ Pricing videos. (What drives price up & down? Why is your price high?)

+ Comparison videos. (Who is your service a good fit for?)

+ Objection-handling videos.

+ Product walkthroughs.

+ “How it works” videos. (What's it like to move forward with you?)

The best B2B video strategy is not about saying, “Look at us.”

It is about helping buyers say, “This might actually solve my problem.”

And yes, these could all be blog posts, but you and I both know that video builds trust soooo much faster.

Video works.

- Mark

P.S. Because B2B companies normally have multiple decision-makers involved, the easy ability to share videos is a big plus, too.

NOTE: The image has been generated with AI.

If your B2B video strategy is falling flat, this is probably the reason.

It used to be that all of the videos a company created were “marketing” videos to generate awareness.

For example, a beautiful cinematic “Brand” video that featured the company and how great it is and not a word about their customers.

But, over the last 10+ years, things have changed. Dramatically.

B2B buyers want Buyer-focused videos because it helps them make decisions faster.

This is the approach that we use with our “Leading with Video” system,

B2B buyers don’t want more marketing fluff.

They want clear answers to the questions they already have:

+ How does this work?

+ What does it cost?

+ How does it compare?

+ Can I trust this company?

And while video isn’t the right tool to use in every case, video is the best ways to answer many of those questions because it also builds a ton of trust at the same time.

Public research shows that:

- 95% of B2B buyers say video helps them move forward with a purchase.

- 83% would rather tour a product via video than in writing.

- 92% prefer being introduced to a sales rep by video rather than text.

That’s why videos like prospect FAQs, product explainers, pricing videos, comparison videos, and customer stories (video case studies) are so effective.

They reduce friction, build trust, and help buyers feel more confident before they ever talk to sales.

And remember, B2B buying teams are doing upwards of 75% of their research BEFORE contacting any companies.

The real lesson is simple:

If your video helps a buyer decide, it’s doing real work.

That’s the kind of content that gets results and will get you massive ROI from your investment in video.

TAKING ACTION: The first step for you and your revenue team is to ask your Sales Reps what questions are regularly asked by prospects and make videos to answer those questions.

Simple.

AI Video is here. I've been waiting with fingers crossed for it to get here and it's a go!

Yes, we've had crappy AI video for a few years, and while this version still isn't perfect, it's absolutely useable in your B2B sales and marketing efforts.

This is my first AI video attempt and I've learned quite a bit throughout the process.

I also learned that it can be VERY frustrating when a prompt doesn't turn out the video you had hoped for. Sometimes it's Pilot Error and sometimes it AI hallucinating.

And sometimes it seems to depend on the time of day and how busy their servers are. 😉

There's still a need for a pro editor to make an AI video really work well. Things like sound design, pacing, etc.

Then there's also the script-writing. AI can help, but it's not there yet, either.

I'd LOVE to get ANY feedback on my first venture into AI video production.

I've never had my eyes tear up on a shoot before I met "Bri."

Now's your chance to change a life.

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the Maternity Program at Good Shepherd Children & Family Services have their "Safe 4 a Night" fundraiser happening today and tomorrow (October 22 & 23, 2025).

I can attest, after interviewing "Bri" for this video and talking with the staff at Good Shepherd, that this program can be a life-changer.

The link to donate is in the comments below.

P.S. Yes, I created this video for them. When "Bri" finished telling her story of how she got to Good Shepherd, all of us in the room were tearing up.
