⚡️ Richmond understood the assignment last night. ⚡️

That storm rolled in and turned the entire sky into its own light show. I’m not talking about a flash here and there—the sky stayed lit up, with lightning firing again and again like nature decided to put on a full production.

I’ve photographed a lot of storms, sunsets, and wild skies, but this was easily one of the best lightning shows I’ve ever witnessed. There’s something humbling about standing there watching that much energy move across the sky… beautiful, powerful, and just a little intimidating. ⛈️⚡️

Mother Nature, you absolutely showed off over Richmond last night.

The mountains have always held a special place in my heart.

There is something so humbling about them. They’ve stood for millions of years, watching generations come and go, quietly holding stories we’ll never fully know. They are full of mystery, beauty, and life.

From the air, you see just how connected everything is. As I was flying, a deer suddenly leaped into my shot. It wasn’t planned. It wasn’t expected. It was one of those moments that reminds you this isn’t our world… it’s one we share.

These mountains are home. Home to wildlife, home to people, home to moments of incredible peace. The stillness here has a way of quieting everything else.

Every flight reminds me that the greatest privilege isn’t just seeing these places from above—it’s respecting them, protecting them, and remembering we’re only visitors in the homes of so many others.

Ever wish you could step into a real-life treasure hunt? 🌳✨

If you’re looking for a fun, outdoor, FREE adventure for all ages, I can’t recommend the Enchanted Forest in Warsaw, Virginia enough.

Created by local artist Tom Rhodes, this hidden gem is a mile-long woodland trail where around 115 of hand-carved and painted characters are tucked away among the trees. Grab the map at the trailhead and start exploring—you’ll feel like you’re on the world’s most magical Easter egg hunt, except instead of eggs, you’re searching for incredible works of art around every bend.

Every time I turned around, there was another surprise waiting to be discovered. It brought out my inner kid, and I couldn’t wait to see what was hiding around the next corner.

Some places remind you that adventure doesn’t have to be expensive—it just has to spark your curiosity. This was one of those places. 💚

Sometimes the best adventures aren’t on the itinerary.

A little detour brought me to Menokin in Warsaw, Virginia—a National Historic Landmark and the former home of Francis Lightfoot Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Today, it’s a remarkable place where history, nature, and preservation come together, with the historic ruins overlooking the peaceful waters of Cat Point Creek.

Of course, I couldn’t resist wandering down the kayak trail… and wow. At the end was a breathtaking stretch of water that felt completely untouched. The kind of place where the only sounds are the breeze through the trees, birds overhead, and your own footsteps.

As a photographer, these unexpected moments are often my favorite. Sometimes all it takes is taking the road—or trail—you didn’t plan on.

🚁 Hidden away in the trees… then suddenly this. 🌲🏡💙

Yesterday, my drone took me to Warsaw, Virginia, where I shot this incredible lakeside cabin tucked away in the forest. From the ground, you’d never realize just how breathtaking this property is. Although, the interior shots are equally as beautiful. But from above? A winding shoreline, endless trees, glassy water, and a peaceful retreat that looks like something straight out of a postcard.

This is exactly why I love drone photography. It tells a story you simply can’t see from eye level.

Summer just leveled up. ✨🎆

This season I’m proud to be one of the drone pilots for Rozzi Famous Fireworks, helping bring Ignite the Night to life at Kings Dominion. It has already been an incredible experience, and we’re just getting started.

Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night, the sky transforms into a spectacular finale where hundreds of synchronized drones, perfectly timed fireworks, music, and storytelling come together to create an unforgettable show. It’s an amazing blend of technology and artistry that brings the night sky to life in a whole new way.

I’ve had the privilege of seeing it from behind the scenes, but I’m still itching to experience it from inside the park as a guest. Sometimes it’s nice to put the pilot hat aside, look up, and simply enjoy the magic.

If you’re headed to Kings Dominion this summer, stick around after dark. Trust me… you won’t want to miss this one. 🚁✨🎇

There are moments when slowing down isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.

If you’ve never experienced a sound bath, I can’t recommend it enough. And if you have the chance to experience one with my friend Greg Burns of Metta Vibrations, don’t pass it up.

As much as I travel for work and spend my days chasing sunrises, sunsets, deadlines, and the next adventure, I often find myself running on fumes. Every time I make space for one of Greg’s sound baths, it’s a chance to reconnect, breathe a little deeper, and simply be present.

If you can catch one outdoors, even better. Surrounded by nature, with the vibrations carrying through the open air… it’s an experience that’s hard to put into words and one you’ll likely carry with you long after it ends.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is pause.
