Spring minis are honestly one of my favorite things to photograph every year 🌸

If you’ve got a spot booked (or are thinking about it!), here are a few tips to make your session feel easy and magical:

🌿 Dress in soft, coordinating tones — think creams, sage, dusty blues, and warm neutrals. Avoid busy patterns or matching outfits head-to-toe. You want to feel cohesive, not costume-y.

☀️ Don’t stress about the weather. A little overcast sky = the most beautiful, even light. Some of my favorite galleries have come from cloudy days!

👟 Let the kids be kids. Seriously. The laughing, the running, the mid-chase chaos, that’s the stuff you’ll actually want to hang on your wall someday. I have 3 kids of my own, I am prepared for it!

🌸 Arrive 5-10 minutes early so everyone has time to settle in and shake off any car-ride moods before we start.

💛 Trust the process. I’ll guide you the whole way. You don’t have to know how to pose. Just show up, be yourselves, and let me handle the rest.

Proposals are one of those moments you only get once, and I want to help you make it perfect. Here are my favorite tips as someone who has photographed more than a few of them:

📍 Pick a location that means something to you two. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to feel like YOU

🤫 Rope in a friend, family member, or photographer to capture the moment. You will want these photos more than you know

💍 Don’t overthink the speech. Speak from the heart and forget anyone else is watching

🎉 Build in time after the moment to just celebrate together before the world finds out. Even if it’s just during our photoshoot!

Here’s how to make your engagement session feel effortless:🌿 Choose a location that feels like YOU: gardens, city streets, somewhere meaningful.

🌿 Coordinate outfits without fully matching: think complementary colors and textures

🌿 Let your photographer lead the big moments, then forget the camera exists

🌿 Build in extra time so you’re not rushing: relaxed couples = the best photos

I LOVE photographing proposals🤍  Add in snow cones at the end of the session, and that makes the whole day perfect!

Maymont was so crowded this day that most of my go-to spots were packed with people, so we pivoted and went into one of the open fields with some snow cones! Activities are some of my favorite ways to get natural photos during any kind of photoshoot. There is no better way to forget you are in front of the camera than to be doing something you enjoy.
