The loving energy between Alex (they/them) and Jess (she/her) was pure electricity in the air. These two reached out to us a week before their D.C. elopement on a hope and a prayer to the sapphic goddesses that we were available 🙏🏼 and luckily the stars aligned so Shawnee could be there to capture the magical joy of this day 🤩

It’s icy and cold outside and I haven’t seen the sun through the clouds in far too long. I’ve been looking back through old photos today and found this one of Oliver & Archer that made my heart swoon and my bones thaw just the tiniest bit. Can’t wait to be able to travel with my babes again and photograph sweet couples in the warm sun ☀️

The amount of elopements we’ve had this past week for our LGBTQ+ community has been staggering, and for understandable reasons. Although I have every hope that Biden & Harris will win this election, the thought of losing any more rights or having things we fought so hard for being repealed is terrifying.

For now we wait. We take care of our loved ones, ourselves, and our neighbors. We don’t give up and continue to push forward just as we always have.

Take care of yourselves and each other. We are here for you, and always will be 💜

Today I had the honor of photographing a wedding over FaceTime! Lakshmi & Emily had reached out before quarantine had truly started for photos. They always knew they wanted to elope, but when everything started to shut down and stay at home orders were passed, they had to find a different way to make it happen. held an online ceremony for them, with a few special folx watching along from their own homes. Then we took photos around their apartment, all using FaceTime. It’s pretty amazing how technology can keep us connected and allow us to capture moments that will be cherished forever 💕
I absolutely loved getting to photograph this wedding and would be thrilled to do more FaceTime sessions!
I hope these two have the most amazing night. They’ll be celebrating over Zoom with all their friends and family 🎉

Happy Le***an Visibility Day! We see you, we are proud of you, and we will always be there to support your love 💕

Your identifiers may change over time, maybe they already have. I went from identifying as “straight” as a teenager, to bisexual after I couldn’t deny my attraction to women any longer, to a 100 % le***an after spending many a night at the local le***an bar, and then realized that q***r is for sure the term that fits best for who I am and who I love.
Who knows if that will change as more time passes, as I learn more about myself, and as new identifiers are created and embraced.

All this to say, that these terms can be so important and grounding in finding yourself in this huge world and the LGBTQ+ community. We love that there are so many ways to describe ourselves, our identities, and our love, and that it is always evolving for the better ❤️

this was the oldest photo of the two of us I could find on my phone. This was the morning after I landed back stateside after my first trip out of the country to Iceland (which quickly became one of my favorite places). I was going through a divorce from my ex-wife and I was hesitant to commit to a new relationship. I realized while I was traveling that the trip would have been so much better if was there with me, and I missed him terribly. So when I got back I decided I was all in, and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made ❤️
