Hello everyone,
Yesterday, I received the unexpected and challenging news that my role as Communications Coordinator at the Sacred Heart Center has been terminated due to budget constraints. This is particularly difficult as I was let go just two weeks before returning from my parental paternity leave. Despite this situation, I am grateful for severance as it provides some support during this transition period.
Over the past 5 years, I have had the privilege of collaborating with remarkable individuals, and I am profoundly thankful for the shared experiences and teamwork that have not only impacted our community but also provided support to countless migrant families in Richmond including my own.
Unfortunately, this news arrives during a trying period in my field of photojournalism. The industry is witnessing a multitude of job losses, the closure of media outlets, and a scarcity of national-level assignments. This situation is particularly challenging for those of us situated in smaller cities.
This is why I am again reaching out to community and humbly requesting assistance. I kindly ask you to consider sharing and/or contributing to our GoFundMe campaign, which aims to provide support to my family during this time: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-young-indigenous-pregnant-mother-with-car?utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer
Throughout our journey, my sweet family has demonstrated resilience and strength, and I believe that this juncture offers a remarkable opportunity for personal reinvention and the pursuit of new avenues in our lives. I remain optimistic and grateful, given that I am fortunate to have a wonderful family by my side. This setback is merely a brief detour in our journey.
Lastly, I want to emphasize that I am enthusiastically open for business and actively exploring fresh prospects in visual arts, social media, marketing, communications, web development, and beyond.
Thank you for dedicating your time and extending your support!
Love,
Carlos Bernate
