If you have found yourself on my page, chances are it’s because something about my work speaks to you. I’m here to preserve your family as it is, not just how it looks. When you schedule a session with me, I’ll be here to guide you from the beginning. From location, to wardrobe, to preparing your kids for our time together, I’m always here to help. You may have noticed that my images rarely featur

e families overly posed or looking straight at the camera. I’ll always try to get you that classic family portrait at some point during your session, but I’m mostly here to spend time getting to know your family and really capture the interaction between loved ones. We’ll do some walking and talking, maybe try a few games, and walk away as friends. I will typically bring both film and digital cameras to your sessions, because both have unique traits that lend to a truly timeless gallery for you to treasure for years to come. I edit my digital images to match the film, so you likely won’t be able to tell the difference. I look forward to our time together!

I told Mary today that last week’s trail ride with Indian Summer Guide Service was the most fun I’ve had in years as far as trying something new, and it was the truth. But it isn’t just the experience of trying something new, it’s the very apparent love and care that shines through from the family that makes it possible.

Not only did they guide us through the beautiful Virginia countryside, but went above and beyond to help make our styled shoot a success for the GATHER workshop, even agreeing last minute to be our impulse/surprise bonus shoot. God gives us the people we need in our lives, right when we need them 💛

We lit our first pumpkin candle of the season this weekend, and somehow, that little flicker made me ready for a new season. 🍂

The backpacks are coming out, school is beginning again, and the promise of cooler days feels like such a welcome gift after the heat of summer.

With little ones, every season is a gift. Even the hard ones. Even the ones that stretch you, exhaust you, and leave you counting down until bedtime. Because somehow, they’re also the seasons we look back on and realize we would give anything to hold again.

So, mama, soak it up as best you can. The messy mornings. The little voices. The changing leaves. The pumpkin candles. The ordinary days that don’t feel all that ordinary when you realize they’re becoming memories.

The seasons change. Our babies grow. And somehow, life keeps moving right along.

Take the pictures. Hold them close. Be present when you can.

This season is a gift. ☀️

There are places that stay with you, even after you’ve left. But It’s not just about where you go and what you do, it’s about who you do it with. Every year this workshop just gets sweeter, building on connection time after time, and spreading beauty throughout the world as we all return to the places we each call home. We went back to school shopping yesterday, and just like that, summer is almost over. My oldest is in college, middle in 7th grade, and our final baby is starting kindergarten. Parenthood is a wild ride, and time is a thief for sure.

I’m so glad the kids and I got to spend a little time slowing down, picking flowers (and narrowly escaping happy little bees 🐝) at The Perfect Picks Flower Farm before hopping back into the school routine. Still one of the most magical places around 🌼

Virginia summers may be warm, but they sure have a certain magic to them. Planning styled sessions for the GATHER Workshop in a few weeks and I truly can’t wait to share the beauty that surrounds us every day.
