Weddings look a little different this year, but I'm just so happy to be part of them in whatever form they take. Congrats to these two who just couldn't wait until next year to get hitched! ✨

Before I go back to posting, I wanted to put this here. I need all past, future, and perspective clients to know. Black Lives Matter. Police brutality, institutional racism, and white supremacy are alive and thriving in our system and I needed to acknowledge that in a post that lasts more than 24 hours. For those of us who are just waking up to this reality, we have a lot of catching up to do. Moving forward, I will be implementing some changes in my business to reflect this anti-racism work I’m doing. And as I learn more, I’ll change more. This isn’t to relieve myself from the discomfort we’ve all had to sit with these last few weeks, but to do something proactive with that discomfort. It’s the time for action in whatever capacity we’re able. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Like the great .cargle said, “I don't want your love and light if it doesn't come with solidarity and action.”

Not gonna lie, friends. This has been a rough week. One rescheduled wedding after another, seeing a years worth of income disappearing right before my eyes, and the feeling of truly empathizing with my couples who are having their wedding plans interrupted. It's been heavy. This has never just been a job to me. I love what I do. I love my couples. Every wedding is an adventure to me: new people to meet, new traditions to witness, new friends to make. I love it all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This isn't a cry for sympathy, we're all going through this loss equally. Some days it's sunny outside, and I finish some house projects and feel accomplished and I get to have funny conversations with neighbors, yelled across the street. And some days it's a little cold and grey and things just feel...sad. And hard. There is time for both. And I'm working on making the space for both as well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So friends, fellow wedding vendors, past and present couples, this year just kinda sucks. I don't feel like sugar coating it today. But my god, when all this is over, every wedding, dinner party, night at the bar, hug from a friend, family reunion, coffee date, farmer's market, and road trip is going to be SO much more joyous and beautiful and meaningful than it ever has been before. And that's got the future looking pretty bright ✨

I have so much work I've never really shared and this was a big time favorite. If I can motivate and get this kitchen renovation done soon, I'll be blogging this one soon for sure!

So. What a time to be alive, eh? How are we all doing?

I’ve been using this time to pause and reflect. Slowing down, taking lots of baths, baking, starting weird art projects, and trying to spread love and relief where I can. It’s been a trying time for lots of us in the wedding industry with all events postponed until some unknown time, but the rush of support from friends and past clients is giving me hope.

With all this downtime, I would love to spend time doing something I haven’t done much of in the past: album design. I truly believe that photos should never just live on hard drives. They should be printed and framed and tucked in the visor of your car and stuck to the fridge and bound in beautiful linen albums to be shown to your grandchildren someday.

So from now until the end of April, I’ll be offering 20% off any size fine art album. This offer is for past clients as well as 2020 and 2021 clients who would like to add an album to their wedding package.

Every winter I really do try to be grateful for the down time and the slow pace of things. I try my hardest to appreciate the snow and the cold. It’s truly all so beautiful and comforting. But then I look back on photos like this and I remember evenings spent outside and I start to feel a little antsy for the summer months to come around again.
