The Window Under the Clouds

My 2nd & 3rd night at the Arches National Park was filled with clouds, wind and rain. I snapped this shot just before the rain started in total darkness.

Potash Road Colorado River Canyon

A local employee at our resort mentioned Potash Road as another beautiful landscape to enjoy near Moab without the crowds. I enjoyed a beautiful afternoon before sunset with some aerial photos with my drone.

Ancient Tree Timeless Sky
=================
Clouds, wind and rain all three nights at the Arches National Park. It tested my patience and I made the best of the couple hours the clouds opened the sky to the stars.

The Window Arch

The Window Arch is the most famous arch in the Arches National Park. There is plenty of parking at the trailhead to handle large crowds. Fortunately for me, the parking spaces were 90% empty, just the way I like it.

I sat in the archway for a couple hours watching the clouds cover the stars for a large portion of the evening. The clouds finally released the stars for a couple hours, so I took advantage with a few shots of the galaxy.

The red glow in the first image is from people hiking up the trail with red headlamps and the second image lighting was from cars entering the parking lot below.

I didn't feel like being in the crowds for our nations 250th birthday, so I escaped to an open space on a hillside just above the city. The city didn't do a fireworks show this year, but plenty of its citizens put on a nice show.
