Green hills for days. Cherry blossoms draped over the venue like they were placed there just for you. A sunset doing that soft pink and blue thing that almost doesn't look real, except it does, because it's edited true to color.

This is why location and color matter so much for your wedding photos. The place you pick sets the whole vibe of your gallery, but the editing is what actually makes that vibe come through. True to color means the green of those hills looks like the green that was actually there. The pink of those blossoms looks like the pink you saw in person. The sunset looks like the one you were really standing under, not a filtered version of it.

Color tells just as much of the story as the location does. It's the difference between a photo that's just pretty and one that actually makes you feel like you're back in that moment.

Everyone plans the dress, the flowers, the reception, the whole production. But almost no one talks about the actual ceremony itself, the part where you're standing there, about to promise forever to the person in front of you.

It's short. Ten, maybe fifteen minutes if you're lucky. But it's the reason everyone's there in the first place. It's the vows, the shaky hands, the way your person looks at you like you're the only one in the room even though everyone you love is watching. It's over before you know it, and you'll want to remember every second of it.

That's the part I care about capturing more than anything else. Not just how beautiful the day looked, but how it actually felt to stand there and mean every word.

Lately, I’m drawn to think about all the little things that make this job feel like more than just a job.

It's mountain air that makes you feel closer to the people you're with instead of further away. Golden sunshine that doesn't just light up a photo, but lights up the way two people look at each other when they think no one's watching. It's the quiet coffee-filled mornings where the realest, most unguarded moments happen before the day has even officially started.

It's the calm that comes right after a storm, a reminder that some of the most beautiful moments show up right after the hardest ones. It's cozy mornings that prove love doesn't need a big, loud moment to feel like everything. It's the kind of love that still feels like Love Story by Taylor Swift, because love stories really do feel like fairytales, and I still believe that.

It's getting a front row seat to dreams coming true, over and over, every single season. And it's watching two people dance in the rain instead of running from it, because real love doesn't wait for perfect conditions. It just shows up, holds on, and dances anyway.

One thing that makes a big difference in how your wedding photos feel is the photographer's style, and it's something a lot of couples don't think to ask about until they're deep into planning.

There are a few main styles out there. Posed is very directed, classic portrait style shots. Documentary is candid, capturing moments as they happen with little direction. Editorial leans more artistic, dramatic lighting and composed shots that feel like a magazine spread.

I'd say I land somewhere between documentary and posed. I love capturing real moments as they naturally unfold, but I also believe in some structure so we're not missing family formals, portraits of you two, or the detail shots you'll want later. Candid, with just enough direction so nothing important gets missed.

Knowing what style fits you really comes down to what you want to feel when you look back at your gallery. A story that unfolded naturally, or a series of composed portraits? There's no wrong answer, just what matches you.

SURPRISE!! Baby boy two expected to arrive this fall! We are overjoyed at God’s continued blessings in our life and can’t wait to welcome this sweet baby so soon!

With that, I wanted to mention my fall availability. It is super limited as I prep for baby boy’s arrival and am on maternity leave for part of the fall.

Sessions : Booked September thru November, but I do have some availability for a few Christmas sessions in December.

There's something about golden light hitting the mountains right at sunset that makes everything feel like it's straight out of a dream.

Moments like this are why I love shooting in the mountains so much. The way the light changes minute by minute, the quiet that comes with being somewhere so wide open, just the two of you and the whole sky doing something incredible above you. It's a different kind of experience than a traditional wedding day, and honestly, a pretty magical one.

This is part of why I've been wanting to take on more destination elopements. Getting to travel somewhere new with a couple and create something this intimate, just you two, your story, and a backdrop that feels like it was made for this moment, is some of my favorite work to do.

There's a moment, right before senior year begins, where everything still feels wide open.

It's not just a cap and gown and a smile for the camera. It's the last first day walking through those doors. The last time your whole group is together before life starts pulling everyone in a hundred different directions. It's you, right now, in the last few months of being exactly who you are before you become who you're about to grow into next.

I want your photos to hold onto all of it. Not something posed and generic, but something that actually feels like you standing right here, right now, at the edge of everything that's about to change.

Because one day, years from now, you're going to find these photos again. And it's not just going to bring back a memory. It's going to bring back the feeling. The nerves, the excitement, the way it felt to be eighteen and standing on the edge of your whole life.

Getting ready is one of my favorite parts of your wedding day, and it's also one of the most overlooked when it comes to planning.

This is the time when it's just you and the people closest to you, before the day's schedule really kicks in. It's calmer, quieter, and it sets the tone for everything after. That's exactly why I love capturing it.

A few things I always tell couples. Give yourself more time than you think you need, getting ready always takes longer than expected, and rushing through it means missing the little moments, the laughing, the nerves, the quiet hugs from your mom or dad.

Also think about your space. A room with good natural light makes a big difference in how those photos turn out. And try to keep the room from getting too crowded too early. Some of my favorite shots happen when it's just you and one or two people, before everyone else piles in.

This part of the day goes by fast, but it holds some of the most genuine, unposed moments of the whole wedding.

Choosing your wedding location is a bigger decision than people talk about. It's not just a backdrop, it's where you're going to stand and say your vows, where your parents are going to see you for the first time that day, where you're going to look around at everyone who means the most to you all in one place. So it makes sense if it feels like a lot of pressure to get right.

Here's what I've realized. The place doesn't have to already be meaningful to you before the wedding for it to matter. Sometimes couples pick somewhere that's already tied to their story, where they got engaged, where they had their first date, somewhere that already feels like "them."

And other times couples pick somewhere brand new, a place they've never even been together before. Both are just as special. Because after your wedding day, that location is never going to be just a place again. It's going to be *the* place. The one you tell your kids about, the one you drive past years later and memories flood your mind.

That's part of what makes this job so meaningful to me. Whether it's a venue, the mountains, a forest, a garden, or somewhere I've never even shot before, I get to help capture the moment a regular place turns into somewhere that means everything to you.

Rain on your wedding day sounds like a nightmare, but it doesn't have to be.

A lot of the peace of mind on your wedding day comes down to planning ahead of time. That means knowing the indoor backup space just as well as the outdoor one, having a lighting plan for both, and walking every option before your day even gets here.

Cloudy skies get a bad reputation too, but they actually create some of the softest, most flattering light there is. So even if it's not sunny and golden, your photos are still going to look beautiful.

Some of my favorite galleries have come from days that didn't go exactly as planned. A little rain, dramatic clouds, all of it adds emotion and story that a perfectly sunny day sometimes doesn't.

Weather worries shouldn't take up space in your head on your wedding day. That's what I'm there for.
