I'm honored to share that I've been voted Best Photographer in The Roanoke Times' Best of Roanoke 2026 awards.

This recognition means a great deal to me, and I want to say a genuine thank you — to every client who trusted me with their most meaningful moments, to everyone who referred a friend or colleague, and to everyone who took the time to vote.

Building a photography business is built entirely on relationships and trust, and this award reflects the incredible community and clients I've had the privilege to work with over the past year. I'm deeply grateful, and excited for what's ahead. It was also super fun to have my boys look through the list in the paper to find my name (they were shocked that I won hahaha).

Summer has flown by, and I've been so caught up with kiddos out of school and shooting new headshots in the studio that I keep forgetting to actually share them! Here's one from this week.

Whether you need a headshot for LinkedIn, a bio photo for a speaking engagement, or a full library of images for your company website, the right headshot session gives you options — not just one photo you'll be stuck with for the next five years.

A great headshot isn't about looking stiff or overly retouched. It's about:

→ Genuine expression and confident energy

→ Lighting and backgrounds that flatter without distracting

→ Enough variety that you're never scrambling for "a decent photo of me"

If your current headshot is from a wedding crop, a conference name badge, or (be honest) still your college graduation photo — it might be time. 😄

Don is a minister and wanted new headshots. When I saw the red in his robe, I knew that I wanted to pull out my red hand painted canvas. Thanks for going with the flow and also to his lovely wife for being willing to be in a few photos as well. (Maybe after 50 years of marriage my husband and I will figure out how to color coordinate our outfits too :)

Last week marked my second year back at the Roanoke Higher Education Center for their Career Day — and it was just as incredible as the first. It was an honor to provide professional headshots to students gearing up for internships, job searches, and the next big steps in their careers. First impressions matter — and a great headshot is one of the easiest ways to make yours count.

Grateful to the Roanoke Higher Education Center team for having me back and to every student and vendor who sat down in front of my camera.
