Finger Lakes Instrumentation

Finger Lakes Instrumentation Cooled CCD cameras for scientific applications: gel documentation, DNA sequencing, spectroscopy, astronomy, x-ray, forensic sciences and more.

FLI began operations in 1998 as a supplier of cooled CCD cameras for astronomical research. Today we operate from three facilities in two locations. Our Binghamton office is dedicated to Atlas focuser and High Speed Filter Wheel production, as well as software and mechanical engineering. Our two Lima facilities include a dedicated engineering facility and a state-of-the-art production facility. FL

I supplies CCD cameras worldwide for x-ray, spectrograph, DNA sequencing, gel documentation, astronomical research, aerospace, and a wide range of other applications. Our on-site staff includes a talented group of mechanical, optical, electrical and software engineers. FLI Cooled CCD cameras and accessories are designed and built in the state of New York, USA. We are a reliable supplier of cameras and accessories, and invite you to visit us at one of our facilities in New York.

When I first saw an image of The Dragons I was hooked to Astrophotography! I wanted to shoot this object so bad however it's in the Southern Hemisphere. One day maybe I can take my rig down south and enjoy the Dragons in person. Since I can't have the Dragons today I gladly tip my hat off to DeepSkyWest which is based in New Mexico and Chile where this image was shot. Since I too am from New Mexico I figure why not take some amazing free data and apply my own spin on it? Please do enjoy!

Deep Sky West Remote Observatory - New Mexico

This is a wide-field 24.7h image of M16, the Eagle Nebula, using LRGBSHO data from Deep Sky West, Rowe, NM collected between 24 April and 10 July, 2020.
The Eagle Nebula is part of a diffuse emission nebula, or H II region, with the bright region of active current star formation at about 5700 light-years distance. The cluster associated with the nebula, NGC6611, has approximately 8100 stars. The cluster's age has been estimated to be 1โ€“2 million years. [based on Wikipedia]
Processing: PixInsight 1.8.8-9, PS CS6 and starnet.
A separate image using this data of the Pillars of Creation area in SHO with RGB stars can be found at: https://www.astrobin.com/t0ppis/
