I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some pretty chill couples on a wedding day, but I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a couple so at-peace and relaxed as Haley + Derrick leading up to the ceremony even without having a first look.
•
As someone who witnesses a wedding quite literally every weekend for the better part of the year, I can still say that every couples’ day has an element of “them” that I absolutely love. Haley + Derrick’s element? That was saying their private vows together by the willow tree ✨after✨ their ceremony.
•
I feel like a lot of couples (and vendors) have that common misconception that your intimate and meaningful moments together stop after the ceremony, but that’s just not the case. It’s YOUR day. YOU write the rules.
•
I’ve had couples take 10 minutes during cocktail hour to literally sit alone in a room and just relax. I’ve had couples eat their dinner privately, away from guests. Your private vows…they can happen whenever and wherever you want them to happen.

Not many people picture pine or spruce trees reaching up toward the sky, winding, babbling creeks, and endless green meadows when they think of Arizona, but I couldn’t imagine a more perfect place to elope for these two.
•
McKenna + Tyler were part of a hiking club through ASU where they both attended college. The club organized a backpacking trip on the West Mt. Baldy Trail and as fate would have it, these two met in the Mt. Baldy Wilderness on that trip. Of course, this made perfect sense as the place for them to say, “I do!”.
•
We did have to wait out a thunder and lightning storm at the trailhead before starting the 6 mile hike in the relentless rain, but it was worth every damp and muddy second. Once we reached the meadow, we found a tree that we lovingly named The Giving Tree because someway, somehow, no matter how hard it rained, we (and all our things) remained dry under that (and only that) tree.

When it comes to your details, I'll typically pull things from wherever you’re getting ready to incorporate into your flatlay. That includes finding cool textures, plants or leaves, etc. It’s rare that I pull from my kit or add outside elements.
Buuuut for some reason, on the way to this wedding, my gut said, “hey girl, I think you should pick up some grapes”. Never, in all my years of doing this, has that happened.
I think it was the absolute perfect touch and addition for this flat lay and it’s the reason I’ll never stop trusting my gut even if I may question the vibes it throws out there sometimes 🤣

This cake from Blayre | New England Cake Artist was truly a piece of art both in visuals and taste. I could literally dedicate an entire post to just cake photos because although she was simple, there were so many incredible details in the icing. Also, Blayre shared a fun reel of her setting this up at the venue…I *thought* I understood what went into moving and setting cakes up, but I was wrong. In her stories leading up to the wedding, she explained the logistics behind moving a cake, especially when it requires being hauled upstairs. All I’ve gotta say is…tip your bakers and pastry chefs 🤣

immaculate. flawless. pure. genuine. authentic. bright. joyous. colorful. impeccable. moving. true.

that’s just the start of ones i can come up with off the top of my head. wait until you see the rest of the day because the hair and makeup team absolutely killed it. the florals were show-stopping. the cake was pure art. the band was fire. the coordination was flawless. i know i wrote a lot about this wedding, so this next part probably makes no sense, but i have no words 🥂

in all my years as a wedding vendor, I can truthfully say it's always incredibly wild to me how easily a dj or band can make or break how your guests (do or don't) show up on the dance floor. some crowds are more mellow and not into having a party on the floor all hours of the night, but if you're friends and family are into letting loose, you need to find right dj because the best ones will keep your guests vibing all night long!

Favorite drink? I’ll keep an eye on which drink you’re enjoying during your reception and include it in your reception flat lay. Shoes? They’ll get their own moment. You’re from the Midwest and getting married in Maine because you want to have the coastal vibe? We'll borrow a starfish from the decor table for your flat lay. Your lobster purse? Yeah, she’s going riiiight in those quintessential, new england hydrangeas. You love playing cards? Noted. Your dogs are your whole world but couldn't make the trip? Same...and i saw that icing on their lil' shoots, dontchu worry.
