Out watching the moon... I'll edit and post tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be late to the party, but the experience is more important... and so is sleep.

Finally! I was able to snag some pictures of lightning... the timing of everything has just been off this year. I usually am able to snag pictures like this, on average, 3 weeks earlier in my area. Taking pictures of lightning is what got me into this whole storm photography thing, and even though I have snagged some great pictures of hawks, mountains, tornadoes, storm structure and so on.... lightning is and will always be my favorite. Every show is different. Enjoy!

Finally get to show the pictures I entered in the fair this year. Some people picked up it was me, some were surprised. The hawk was my favorite, I was storm chasing, and caught the hawk in such a stoic moment. The reflections mountains scene is from Crested Butte, the other two storm pictures are from a storm chase west of Limon, and the black and white is Longs Peak. Which, due to being sick the last two days and overwhelmingly busy recently, I just realized I entered the wrong black and white picture. Still worked out. If you got a chance to support the the Ark Valley Fair Arts, Crafts, and Photography Show this year, thank you. It is always great to see what the community has to offer. Thank you to those who have bought a print from me this year, and here's to next year.

Haven't posted in awhile... I am the most exhausted I have ever been. I have a lot that I would like to share, but motivation is lack luster. Making it my goal to post a little more and make some time for myself. Went to Crested Butte over the weekend, spent most of the time driving, wasn't a leisurely trip, but tried to enjoy what we could. At one point, I was able to get out and attempt to snag a picture or two of the stars. Tried my best, was pleasently suprised with the results. Enjoy!

Entry volunteers needed!
I feel like I can credit my confidence in photography and my drive to learn partially to the Ark Valley Fair. It's a great place for everyone to share their art with everyone locally.
At one point this part of the fair was to be no more. Until Catalina Idalia Morris volunteered to take over, and hit the ground running. The big issue always faced is help and volunteers. I feel like so many people enter and appreciate this portion of the fair, and the community can do and has done artistically has always been underappreciated. More so the people that run it.
What bothers me is the amount of negative feedback people give. And how the fair always extends an arm to those people to come help, and be apart of the change, but they never do. We have so many people the volunteer the both every year, but set up and art registration always seems to need more help.
So please, if anyone can volunteer, you should try. Be apart of the process, understand what goes on, maybe you have an idea that can help the process.
Be understanding of those very few who do volunteer to keep this running. How much work is put in, time, effort, and on so little funds. If more people volunteer, the stess load can be more evenly shared, and extremely helpful.

Hello, I am just putting this out here to see if anyone can help with entries. Especially on Sunday. I was already contracted to do a wedding before the dates came out and will be out of town until Sunday. Most years, my husband, my mom, a few friends and I make this event happen with little to no volunteer support. If you have supported or volunteered, thank you so much! If you would like to see this event continue and get better, please be part of the solution and get involved. Thanks everyone!

Late night post! Storm season is getting closer to coming to end, and I will divert most of my time back to teaching, starting tommorow. ALOT of changes coming this year, and some have already happened. Photography is more than just a hobby, some months it is a great source of income, some months it's just enough gas money to get by. If you are ever interested in setting up a session to do portraits, let me know! If you are ever curious about getting a print, let me know as well. I do not have a website set up for this information, just yet, maybe in the future, but I can work with anyone to the best of my ability. Working with just a teachers salary, I am hoping this can help me stay afloat through the next nine months. Anyway, I always appreciate the support, and hope everyone enjoys the content I put out.

It's that time of year for me to start shifting my focus to lightning. Not only does monsoon season come with rain and wind, it comes with lightning. My first love with weather photography has always been lightning. Usually, there is no chasing. Just find a spot, a weather app, my lightning app, my camera, take pictures, and enjoy the show. It's calming for me, and about the only the thing that happens locally that is able to distract me from the rigors of life. As the sunset starts to arrive earlier, the chances for some awesome evening lightshows increase. Hopefully I can document a lot lightning this upcoming month, if the restraints of life allow it. Enjoy!

Outflow dominate storms in our area are common during our monsoon season. Lots of heavy rain, flooding, crazy wind, hail, and lightning are always expected. Second picture was north of Ordway 30 or so miles, and the first picture was a shelf cloud coming into the Arkansas Valley area. Be safe everyone, the wind and flooding can always be dangerous if it happens.
