Growing up in an Irish American family of eleven children on the south side of Chicago Terry learned independence at an early age. The cement and cornfields of Illinois were quickly left behind on his first cross-country train trip to attend school in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. That was when Terry began to realize the world was filled with a beauty he had not experienced in his home state of Illinois. The beauty of the Berkshire’s built his wanderlust. Thus began a forty-year love affair with capturing the natural and man made beauty of the world around him and the lives of those who shared in that experience. When Terry’s career took him to Roseville CA in the early 90’s he learned to truly appreciate the local art scene. For over ten years Terry was instrumental in helping to start, grow and develop the Auburn Old Town Gallery a cooperative art gallery that today boasts over 60 artists. For over forty years Terry’s career included extensive travel allowing him to capture the images of life and local culture. Terry captured the thoughts that accompanied these travels and communicated those visions through the art of photography, verbal story telling and poetry. Terry challenges himself to capture the feeling of the moment without the aid of camera filters. Patience is certainly part of the equation.
