Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary is one of 14 national marine sanctuaries and is the only sanctuary site located in the Gulf of Mexico and is a true treasure of the Gulf of Mexico. It is situated 80-125 miles off the Texas and Louisiana Coast. East Flower Garden Bank, West Flower Garden Bank, and Stetson Bank are actually small underwater mountains created by salt domes. The tops of these banks are covered in gardens of coral, sponges, and algae that pro-vide habitat for a variety of tropical wildlife. Let's go diving!
