It’s easy to talk about faith. It’s easy to talk about kindness, generosity, serving others, and wanting our businesses to make a difference.
But Scripture reminds us that we’re called to do something with what we’ve been given.
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” — James 1:22
And I think sometimes we make “giving back” feel like it has to be something BIG.
It doesn’t.
Sometimes it’s giving your time when there’s nothing in return. Sometimes it’s using your business to bless someone who could never repay you. Sometimes it’s simply being patient, offering encouragement, sharing a smile, or noticing the person everyone else overlooked.
Through J+Co, I’ve been blessed with opportunities to serve people in ways that have absolutely nothing to do with taking a beautiful picture. And I’m learning that those moments may matter more than anything I could ever create with a camera.
We never really know what someone is carrying when they walk through our doors or stand in front of our lens. So, when God gives us an opportunity to be a little bit of light, I hope always that I am intentional to take it.
Your business doesn’t have to be huge to make an impact. Your platform doesn’t have to reach thousands. You just have to be willing to do something with what God has placed in your hands.
So here’s my Tuesday-night reminder to myself and maybe to someone else too: don’t just hear it. Live it. Give back. Serve well. Smile at someone. Be the light. 🤍
