Carlie and Eli have spent the last several years writing their story together, and have recently stepped into their newest chapter as husband and wife. 🤎

With Eli serving in the Navy, their story has already taken them through seasons of distance, change, and a whole lot of life. A few weeks before this day in August, they officially said “I do” during a small, intimate ceremony at their church.

But tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains, they got to celebrate all over again.

They shared private vows, surrounded themselves with their closest friends and family who traveled from all over the country, ate, laughed, danced, and soaked in the kind of evening that somehow felt both incredibly significant and completely effortless.

And when I look back through these photographs, this is exactly what it felt like to be there.

Warm. Intimate. A little wild. Full of laughter, happy tears, people who love them deeply, and two people getting to celebrate the beginning of a chapter they’ve been writing toward for years.

This is the kind of story they’ll tell their daughter one day.

A cake sitting untouched while your heart races.
Storm clouds and thunder rolling in.
A few curious cows wandering over to investigate what all the excitement was about.

Then came the moment they’d been waiting for.

Not to meet their baby, but to learn one more beautiful piece of who she was.

Years from now, they’ll tell their little girl about the day they found out she was their little girl. They’ll tell her about the rain that almost came, the cows that insisted on watching, and how an ordinary afternoon became one of their favorite memories. 🩷

Your photos should look like you fell in love, not like you practiced for them.

The secret to those fun, natural-looking photos? They’re usually a mix of intentional posing and movement-based prompts. I’ll tell you where to stand, but I’ll also have you laughing, talking, dancing, and simply being together. The best images happen somewhere in the middle.

And yes, I will probably make weird noises, get excited over your hand placement, or say something completely unhinged to get a genuine smile out of you. It’s all part of the experience. The goal isn’t perfection. It’s creating photos that feel like you.

If you’ve been around here for a while, you already know this.

I’m not just here to photograph what your wedding looked like.

I’m here to capture what it felt like.

The laughter that makes your cheeks hurt.�The dance floor that never seems to empty.�The hugs you’ll wish you could have one more time.�The friends who know every word to every song.�The family members who surprise everyone with their dance moves.�The people who love you so much that they celebrate like nobody’s watching.

These photos are actually from a wedding I photographed last March, and every time I come back to this gallery, I find myself smiling all over again.

This reception had all of that and then some. I don’t say this lightly, but I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t one of the most fun wedding receptions I’ve ever had the privilege of documenting.

Looking through these photos over a year later, I can still remember exactly what it felt like to be in that room. That’s the kind of wedding I hope every couple gets to experience.

Because years from now, I don’t want you to just remember how beautiful your wedding looked.

The people who love you usually tell your story better than you can.

So instead of writing an “about me” post, I asked my friends to describe me.

If we’ve never met before, this might be the most accurate introduction you’ll get. 😂

Apparently I’m equal parts photographer, Taylor Swift enthusiast, Taco Bell supporter, professional sunset chaser, and carrier of emergency ginger pills. But also a collection of personality traits, inside jokes, and surprisingly accurate observations from the people who know me best.

Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🤍

One of my favorite things about weddings is that no two are ever the same.

Every couple finds their own way to weave pieces of their story into the day, and Makaylah and Chris did exactly that.

From the very beginning, every detail felt intentional. As a fellow Swiftie, I couldn’t help but notice the Folklore and Evermore-inspired touches woven throughout the day. It felt romantic, nostalgic, and perfectly suited to the atmosphere they created.

But my favorite detail of all was one you won’t see in photos

Instead of choosing a song that already existed, Makaylah asked her brother to write one for her wedding day. As she made her way down the aisle toward Chris, his song played in the background. A gift created specifically for that moment.

The song you’re hearing while scrolling through these photos is the very same one.

It’s details like these that make every wedding so different. Not because they’re extravagant, but because they’re deeply personal. Every choice, every detail, and every moment becomes part of a story that’s uniquely theirs.

And that’s one of my favorite things about getting to document wedding days like this one.
