I see a lot of conversations online about AI and art, and I share many of the concerns (I will admit, it’s a lifesaver when you need a recipe). But the scariest part, to me, is how hard it’s becoming to tell what’s real anymore.
It’s made me think differently about photographing people in their homes. I’ve always loved when people choose their homes as locations, but my priority has always been that they pick a place where they feel comfortable and happy and sometimes that isn’t your home. (Plus… we live in some of the most beautiful places, with almond blossoms and lavender fields and rivers and green hills, which is pretty amazing and makes for great locations.)
But back to my recent realizations: when I think about what can’t be manufactured, I think of our homes. The way the light falls at 4pm….or the way everyone gravitates toward a special spot in the home to play games and have conversations. This is the place your life actually happens. So all I’m saying is, maybe consider it if you want family photos this year?
