People see a $150 photoshoot and think photographers are taking home $150 in profit… that is not the reality I can assure you.
What most people don’t see is everything that goes on behind the scenes of running a photography business.
A session payment doesn’t just go into my pocket. It goes toward:
⭐️ gallery delivery + website fees
⭐️ editing software subscriptions
⭐️ SD cards + hard drives
⭐️ camera bodies + lenses
⭐️ props + setups
⭐️ gas/travel
⭐️ advertising
⭐️ continuing education
⭐️ equipment maintenance/upgrades
And then the biggest thing of all … time.
The actual session is only a tiny portion of the job. There’s hours spent planning, communicating, working galleries, editing images, delivering galleries, book keeping, answering messages/emails, ordering props, cleaning the studio, and so much more that nobody really sees.
Photography is so much more than “just taking pictures.” It’s a full business, a creative service, and honestly a huge labor of love. 🤍
I completely understand that professional photography isn’t in everyone’s budget, and that’s okay! But I’ll always be thankful for the clients who value the work, time, and heart that goes into creating these memories.
