Ross E. Jeffries School will be celebrating 100 years in August 2027.

•Ross E. Jeffries Elementary School was built in 1927 and originally named West Side Grade School.

•The building Design is the Mediterranean Revival style by architectural firm Ryan & Roberts, featuring an arched porch, offset tower main entry, and Chicago-style windows

•The school was renamed in the 1960s to honor long-time principal Ross Jeffries, who led the school from roughly 1946 to 1962.

•Between 1953 to 1965, the school went through an expansion, adding a cafeteria between 1953 and 1965, an administration and kindergarten section in 1977, and a media center in 1987.

This park featured native and exotic animal enclosures built largely by local craftsmen.

The park introduced the first giraffe in Osceola County history, allowing visitors to feed giraffes from an elevated platform.

The park opened ab 85-acre Drive-thru Safari Park, giving guests a multi-mile car tour of roaming exotic and native animals.

2022
The park expanded a section of the safari with a wider range of animals which welcomed white rhinos to the property.

The small fort in the Bahamas at Montagu was built by Peter Henry Bruce between 1741 and 1742. He was an engineer with great accolades but also a soldier which made his skills useful for the building of a fort. The arrival of Mr. Bruce to the Bahamas was no coincidence as he was brought in during a time of war.

It was during this time that The War of Austrian Succession was ongoing in Europe and began to spill over into the Americas. The Bahamas being a British colony was to play a small part in this war hence the Crown commissioned Peter Henry Bruce to renovate Fort Nassau and to oversee and complete the construction of Fort Montagu.

The Spaniards had a long running off and on war to capture the capital and the British were determined not to give it up. Peter Henry Bruce wrote about his life and experiences while in the Bahamas. It has been discussed on several occasions with the Bahamas Historical Society. You can find more about his memoirs
