May Is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Over the past few years the topic of mental health has become more accepted. Progress has been made and understanding has been gained. Yet some stigma still lingers...

For those who struggle there is often a lot of shame that comes after receiving a diagnosis. There is a lot of fear surrounding what others may think of them. Many people fall silent or choose to hide the best way that they know how...But silence around mental illness almost always leads to further suffering.

According to the data, about one third of young adults struggle with their mental health...only half are receiving treatment or care. It is so common, yet still there is so much shame that surrounds the topic.

Once we open up to discuss and offer understanding, a person with mental illness may feel safe enough to share what they have been holding in their hearts and in their minds. once we stop treating mental illness and adversity as something to hide or be ashamed of, we open the door for healing.

I rarely share my bo***ir photography here on this account (my main account) however, I love this image; and to me it is art. 🖤

Why do I do bo***ir photos? Because I love seeing the confidence and inner fire that emits from my clients during and after a shoot. 🔥

Self imagine is something, I the photographer have struggled with myself. Bo***ir means something different for everyone. For some, it’s a way of practicing self love, reclaiming your power, and an act of bravery by trying something outside of your comfort zone.
