We pulled into the driveway of this rural Onamia home at 6:33 pm. Not far away, a busy Friday-night flurry of traffic could be heard as they headed north to lakes and cabins via the Highway 169 corridor. But here, the yard was quiet. A pickup was at the end of the driveway, a middle-aged woman waiting to meet us. There was something inside the house that didn’t want her there, she said. She had moved out of the house weeks before. She couldn’t take the headaches and the bad feelings she got whenever she was near the house. She recounted several incidents, to include the sensation that someone was screaming in her face, knocking at the front door at 10 pm but nobody was there, people who came to stay would find themselves getting angry and then leave. One night, as she was headed to town, her truck sped down the road at an uncontrolled speed for three miles as if the accelerator was stuck. The last straw, one night someone or something crawled into the bed next to her. She was the only one in the house. Other people had tried to help but unfortunately, things only got worse. We took a walk through the house; there was rumor that there had been a su***de in the house years ago, as well as a death in the bedroom. We placed a camera and audio recorders. It was an old house that had been added to in the Sixties. More recent renovations to parts of the house were pleasant but the majority of the house suffered from years of disrepair. A failing septic system and a sump pump that no longer was working were the cause of several pools of water in the basement. There was significant mold present on the walls and in adjacent rooms. Anyone who lived in this house would suffer mold symptoms to include headaches, illnesses, anger… One of the investigators stepped out; the poor air quality affecting them. Back upstairs, we set up equipment in the bedroom where she had reported that something had crawled in bed with her. I had three hits on the Mel Meter, 1.7, 1.9 and a 1.9. Mark commented that he could sense something was in the room. We kicked off an audio session and within a few questions, we were getting significant interaction on the K2 meter. We asked a few more questions, and then provided the crossover opportunity. Then we all went out into the yard. We needed fresh air. After visiting with the owner some more, I led the crew back down to the basement. Something didn’t feel right down there and it was more than the mold. The team moved about the room as I asked questions. The light on my headlamp began to blink in response to the questions. We were interacting with something. I recited the St. Michael Prayer, then asked for any unclean spirits or energy to be removed from the basement. Then we provided another crossover opportunity for any spirits in that frequency. Now it was time to cleanse the house with the blessed sage. Two of us stoked up sage and starting in the basement, we worked our way through the house. But we didn’t stop there; we circled the house, and then cleared the garage. Each space was then blessed. Things felt different. The place even smelled better. The sage smoke had removed much of the musty smell. We stepped outside into the night air; Venus and Jupiter clearly visible in the western horizon. I gifted a Bible to the client. We talked about what we did, what we experienced, and what she could expect moving forward. But most importantly, we talked about life—as long as we could until I could not take the mosquitoes any more. Then we bid her farewell. I am ultra confident things will feel better on that property no matter what its future. There will be no surprise visitors knocking on the exterior walls at night or unknowns crawling into bed with the living. Those occurrences now belong to the past.
