I recently sat down with a woman who’s spent years digging into her genealogy, and it was a massive reminder that family trees aren't just lists of names, they’re stories of GRIT.
Listening to her talk about what her ancestors went through: the moves, the losses, the sheer survival. You realize that we carry that same strength in our own DNA. Knowing their struggles doesn't just tell us where we came from; it gives us a roadmap for getting through our own tough days.
If we don't capture these stories now, that "survival guide" for the next generation gets lost. Legacy isn't about dates; it’s about the heart that kept the family going.

It is more apparent to me than ever that we need to focus on the important things in life. When we look back on our days on this earth, all of our memories with family and friends will come to the forefront; everything else will fade.
I am so glad I can help others preserve the stories, the joys, and the lessons they have learned during this journey of life. May God bless every one of you! I hope to connect with many more of you in the coming years and see what we can create together.

I agree with Jared's sentiments in this post. I also cannot name my great, great grandparents. We all are on this world for a very short time and I believe our impact will be felt for generations after us, even though future generations may not even know our name. I think it is important to understand our family that came before us. It will develop a sense of gratitude and empathy that our society greatly needs these days.

October was designated as Family History Month back in 2001. Celebrate your ancestors, explore their stories, and share your family history with future generations. Every discovery brings us closer to our roots.

October is also American Archives Month. There are archives for most any person, place, or thing you can think of, and they are vitally important to genealogists. There are archives at the national, state, city and community level; business and church archives; archives that contain the personal records of people and organizations; and those that contain the personal papers of famous people in history, science, government, or the arts. Try to explore at least one archives this month, either online or in person.

You might be wondering what the process is for a Legacy Video. The process is relaxed, personal, and designed around your loved one. Here's what it looks like:

✅ Step 1: We Chat
We start with a phone call (or email if you prefer) to talk about your goals - who you want to interview, what kind of stories matter most, and any specific topics you'd like to include. You don't have to figure it all out, I'll guide you through it.

📝 Step 2: Prep Made Easy
Next, I send you and your loved one a thoughtful set of questions designed to help them start remembering stories, moments, and details from their life.

This is a good time to start gathering some photos and home videos that could be used to enhance their stories.

🎤 Step 3: The Interview
We schedule a time that works for you and your loved one. The interview is casual and conversational, not like a formal production. Most people say it feels more like a warm conversation with a friend than a performance.

This is usually done in a relaxed setting, like their living room. I handle the setup, the lighting, and the pacing so you don't have to worry about anything technical. Your loved one just shows up and shares their story.

🎬 Step 4: The Magic Happens
After the interview, I take care of the editing. I clean up the video, add in titles, photos and videos that you provide, and craft a final product that's beautiful, professional, and heartfelt. You'll receive a shareable digital version on your personal website.

That's it! It's simple, but the result is something your family will treasure for generations.
