These 2 images have been sitting with me.
We weren't posing for this photo. We had simply asked Grandpa to hold her while I photographed Mom and Dad.
Then they looked at each other... and for just a moment, the rest of us disappeared.
Since working in senior living this past year, moments like this have taken on a whole new meaning. Every resident I meet was once this little. Every wrinkle tells the story of a life well lived, and every child reminds us that life is always beginning again.
Sometimes the photographs we treasure most aren't the ones we planned. They're the quiet, in-between moments that remind us what really matters. Years from now, she may not remember this moment... but she'll always be able to see the way her grandpa looked at her.
These will always be some of my favorite images I've ever captured.
