Some photographs tell you what happened; some remind you how it felt.

I talk to my students about vantage point/perspective very early on in Photo I, and with good reason. The extreme versions in these photos outline perfectly how you can tell a story from a single moment in many different ways, all meaningful in their own right.

I love frame #1: made by my friend and longtime wedding partner-in-crime Josh Bogardus — the visual through that old glass recreates that deep, nostalgic feeling we all have when thinking of a cherished memory, you know? It’s always just at the tip of our minds, and it might take a while to come into sharper focus. Bravo, big dawg! It’s one of my favorite photographs.

Without a doubt, some of my favorite portrait work of all time. The sun was bright but forgiving. The blue skies went on for days. Anna and John who make having fun a priority! These elements had me blazing through rolls of film… you better believe I overnighted it to Richard Photo Lab first thing Monday morning. All shot on Fuji400h + Contax 645.

I’m going to share their ceremony next as I simply can’t wait to revisit a moment my second shooter captured (through a pane of an antique window 🤤) that might just be a top contender for the entire weekend gallery!
