I was able to talk to a new mama today who is 18 weeks pregnant with a precious little girl with Trisomy 21. She’s been feeling alllll the things and it’s been my mission today to validate the very real feelings of uncertainty and to also celebrate. Because I already know what a joy her little girl will be.🥹 She has been pressured to terminate this precious little one but she is choosing LIFE! What a joy it is for me to be a source of encouragement and hope for her. I will continue to stand in the gap for babies like this one and like our little Riva who have mighty superpowers. We will continue to advocate and stand for LIFE if she doesn’t win, but if Riva’s face and story can be known across the globe, how amazing would that be?🫶🏽

Ahhhhh I couldn’t wait to share this fall family sesh. We grabbed a spot near one of the only golden trees left in the state of Iowa😄.

There’s something about seeing a mama and her girl💕

Capturing this relationship hits a little different now. I’m absolutely in love with my daughter: her sweet face and the intricacies of Audrey’s entire person bring me an indescribable joy. She has started to “scoot crawl” and every day I wonder where the time has gone. I think back to all of those times when so many kind people, both friends and strangers, told me “time goes so fast.” It really, truly does, and I’m only 7 months into the journey of first time motherhood. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

That being said, watching pure delight and love overflow from a mother and her little gal just gives me all the good feels.🥹 Storytelling as a photographer is my favorite thing about the job. There are so many beautiful things to capture.

All of us weren’t sure about the weather last weekend in Duluth but this session turned into a magical fairy tale full of Secret Garden moments.

Last September, I was 15 weeks pregnant on a California beach💕

We had no idea there was a beautiful little girl taking up just a small amount of room in my tummy.

She was about the size of a plum or maybe a lemon.

She had arms, hands, fingers, feet, and toes, and she could open and close those little tiny fists.

At 15 weeks, Audrey was fully formed. Her organs, muscles, limbs, and bones were in place.

She had a name, but we didn’t know it yet. She had a gender, but we didn’t know that either.

She was a living, breathing miracle, formed intricately by a God who loved her even more than we did.

Guys. These lovely ladies👯‍♀️

It’s been A MINUTE since I’ve posted here. My life has been busy with all things baby and the joys and challenges that come with being a new mom. My little girl is 6 months old and I couldn’t feel more blessed…or more tired. 🤣But actually, our little Audrey girl slept 9.5 hours last night and then fell asleep for another two so we are WINNING over here. 🙌🏽

This though. This was my first TWIN senior session and I am so proud to call this particular set of beautiful humans my sisters-in-law. It blows me away that they are seniors.
We had a blast galavanting around, inside and out of one of their favorite hang outs: .espress. We hit up some other places too but that’s for another day. 😏

Happy Friday! I’m about to eat a massive burger to start the weekend off right.

Just a few months ago Ryan and I were diving into the unknown.

We were headed straight into a mysterious and scary newness that I remember at random times thinking: “are we really ready for this?”

The answer is usually no, people have told me. You’re never really READY. You don’t normally have all your stuff figured out before something big. You’re not really FULLY prepared for all the things that will come.

And that’s ok.

But to dive headfirst into a beautiful mystery where we know God is makes it all worth it.

I have felt all of the emotions with this pregnancy. At the beginning it was clear that I was grieving the hard truth that life just the two of us was coming to a close. And that was (and still is) a hard one for me to swallow. I would (and still do in more recent moments) look at our wedding photo hanging on our wall taken just 4 years ago, and feel like I am still not ready to give that season up.

But the beauty of seasons is that something right around the corner will be equally beautiful. It may look different, strange, and it might be a little treacherous (MN winters, anyone?) But there will be beauty. We are guaranteed newness and change with the coming and passing of each season.

So. We are diving into a beautiful mystery where we’re trusting God and the story He has for us. We remember fondly the times before and we look ahead with expectation and joy at what is to come.

**This senior session was a favorite of mine because I had the honor of shooting my sister-in-law, Anna. She is a gorgeous human. ☀️

Tonight is the eve of our 4th wedding anniversary
..and we are thrilled to announce that we will be welcoming a little sweetheart to our family in March!

God has been so faithful and good and we are ecstatic for the journey. The past four years have been amazing to say the least, and Ryan and I look forward with anticipation to the changes that lie ahead. We are thankful for a gracious Father who loves and cares so well for us, and who draws us into deeper connection with Him. We pray that we can be parents who are intentional, loving, and connected, placing Christ above all things. Please join us in prayer as we strive to do this.

And our vows remain: “for as long as we live. I love you. Like crazy.”

These photos were edited and set up by me and taken by my mom on one of our favorite beaches in Southern California. I was about 10 weeks at the time. Thanks, everyone, for sharing in our joy!! ❤️👶🏽

We spent the weekend in Warba, MN— enjoying the pontoon and praying for more fish to bite. Midwestern summer days like these are some of my absolute favorites: nothing but sun to give you color to your face and a mixture of lake water, sweat, and dry shampoo to give volume to your hair.

Ryan and I soaked up all of the gorgeous warmth and beautiful light this past weekend at a cabin with some friends. A few showers here and there, a cellphone in the lake, and our car broke down the instant we got home but a splendid weekend nonetheless.

Amy and I have been friends basically since day one of college in 2008. We were both going through a breakup and our friendship blossomed because of it. Nothing like two commiserating hearts to make soul sisters out of you.
