Everyone thinks it’s the swaddle.

And yes, a good wrap can absolutely help a baby feel secure.

But the wrap isn’t the secret.

The secret is slowing down.

Following baby’s lead.

Creating an environment where they feel safe, comfortable, and never rushed.

Because whether I’m working with a 7-day-old newborn or a feral 3-year-old who’s one Goldfish cracker away from a meltdown, the goal is the same:

Connection first.
Photos second.

When kids feel safe, included, and like they’re part of the experience instead of being forced through it, everything changes.

The smiles are real.

The moments are genuine.

And the session feels a whole lot easier for everyone involved.

It’s actually the same reason my favorite toddler hack works so well during family sessions.

Comment **SECRET** and I’ll send it to you.

Contrary to what most moms believe...

Family photos are not a performance review for your children.

Nobody gets a gold star for standing still.
Nobody gets disqualified for being a little feral.
And honestly?

Some of my favorite images happen in the middle of the chaos.

The running.
The giggling.
The snack breaks.
The “absolutely not” toddler moments.

Because the goal isn’t perfection.

It’s connection.

If family photos stress you out, I created a free guide with the exact things I tell families before every session to help keep photo day calm, connected, and way less overwhelming.

Comment SECRET and I’ll send it your way. 🤍

“Okay, but what if my kids are absolutely feral?”

Honestly?

That’s probably the #1 thing moms say to me before their session.

Not:
“My kids are sweet.”

Not:
“They’ll do great.”

It’s usually something more like:

“Good luck.”
“One of them bites.”
“They haven’t listened to me all day.”
“You’re about to earn every dollar.”

And you know what?

Some of my favorite galleries have come from those exact families.

Because beautiful photos aren’t created by perfectly behaved kids.

They’re created when everyone stops putting so much pressure on the experience.

I actually put together a free guide with the exact things I tell families before every session to help keep photo day calm, connected, and meltdown-free(ish).

Comment SECRET and I’ll send it over.

Tampa moms, can I tell you something?

Your toddler probably isn’t the reason family photos feel stressful.

I know that’s not what the internet tells you.

Most moms assume they need more bribing.
More threatening.
More “smile for the camera.”

But after photographing hundreds of families, I’ve noticed something interesting...

The families who end up having the easiest, most connected sessions aren’t the ones with the most well-behaved kids.

They’re the ones who do ONE thing differently before the session even starts.

And honestly?

It has nothing to do with getting your toddler to cooperate.

I put together a free guide with the exact things I tell families before every session to help keep photo day calm, connected, and way less chaotic.

Comment SECRET and I’ll send it over.

One day they’ll ask you to put them down.

And the craziest part is…
you probably won’t realize when the last time was.

The last sleepy hug.
The last time they reached for your hand first.
One baby growing bigger while another is growing into them.
The last time they fit perfectly on your hip.
The last time they wanted you to carry them everywhere.

Motherhood changes slowly like that.
So slowly you barely notice it while you’re in it.

Until one day you’re looking back at photos realizing the little things you thought you’d remember forever somehow faded with time.
I think that’s why these moments matter so much.

Not because every season is perfect.
Not because motherhood always feels easy.
But because these tiny in-between moments quietly become the ones that mean everything later.

The way they look at you.
The way they still need you.
The way they trust you with their whole little world.

That’s the stuff worth remembering.

I think maternity sessions are about so much more than documenting a bump.

They’re about documenting the woman who exists in the middle of becoming everything.

The quiet.
The anticipation.
The softness.

The version of you that’s carrying an entire future while the world still looks the same on the outside.

Because one day your child is going to look at these photos and realize…
before they were ever here,
they were already loved this deeply.

And honestly?

I think mothers deserve to exist in beautiful things too.

Not just blurry phone photos.
Not just behind-the-camera memories.
Not just proof that everyone else was there.

You deserve artwork that reminds you how powerful and beautiful this season really was while you were living it.

This session felt less like taking photos and more like creating something timeless.

I’ll never get over reveal days.

Watching someone see their memories for the first time is honestly one of my favorite parts of this entire experience. The gasp. The tears. The “wait… THAT’S us?!” Or the “oh my gosh, she’s changed so much already!”

You walk into your session thinking you’re just taking photos.
But then you sit down and realize you documented a season of life you can never get back.

The way your baby looks at you.
The way your family feels together.
The little moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

I get to capture your emotion during your session… but getting to witness it in real life afterward? That part gets me every single time.

Most people think they need a huge reason to book photos.

But honestly?

It’s usually the little things.

The wobbly sitting stage.

The missing front teeth.

The way they still reach for your hand.

Your whole family finally being together in one place.

The first home.

The baby bump.

The first birthday that somehow got here way too fast.

Tiny moments while you’re living them.

Core memories later.

Some people hear “generational wealth” and think of bank accounts, trust funds, or money passed down.

But after photographing families like this…

I don’t think that’s the richest thing you can leave behind.

I think it’s this.

Grandparents chasing babies down the beach.

Cousins growing up side by side.

Everyone laughing so hard nobody notices the camera.

The kind of love that makes childhood feel full.

Because one day these images become more than pictures.

They become proof that your children were surrounded by family.

Proof that everyone was here.

Together. Happy. Alive in the little moments.

And honestly?

That feels a whole lot richer to me.
