It’s weird when it takes a fire to make folks notice a “historic” church. A historic church left to rot and decay and become a shell of its former self. Seems people use these opportunities to bolster their social media, vlogs and narrative of “how I want the city to change”…but I digress. I didn’t dig, but I happen to have these 3 pics available. The year was 2012, REVOK was the current mural at the alter inside the church (St Agnes) and it was a hot humid summer day. A friend and I went into the parish to look around real quick, we headed upstairs and even back then the place was is horrible shape so I can only imagine what another 13 years did to those rooms. We sat upstairs looking out of a window watching the drug guys down the street deal to cars. One car parked across the street from the window and we just sat and watched the guy use his seatbelt to tie his arm off. He looked around, then shot up, and then passed out …..man it was hot that day.

Happy Birthday to , getting the opportunity to spend over a week photographing him was truly amazing. This set is a tiny portion of days of shooting him work in studio, outside murals and in the streets.

Since 2011, I’ve had the privilege of capturing the stories of artists—from their creative moments in the studio to the bold expressions of outdoor murals and installations. Through photographing openings and archiving their work, I’ve spent countless hours, days, and even weeks alongside these incredible individuals, forging friendships and discovering inspiration along the way. I’ve met artists I once thought I’d never have the chance to connect with, and in turn, they’ve deepened my understanding of art and the creative journey.

Seeing new photographers documenting art and artists has reignited my own passion for sharing these stories. It’s made me realize how much of my own work remains undocumented. While I don’t yet have an archive of my art photos on my website, I hope one day to curate a collection that reflects the depth of my experience. For now, I’ll start small and share occasional sets here, taking one step at a time toward preserving and sharing the art that has shaped my own journey.
