The newborn haze. Milk-drunk naps, tiny hands curled into your chest, your oldest suddenly looking so big, and a home that somehow feels completely different than it did a few days ago. You’re exhausted, emotional, completely consumed by this new little person, and already wishing you could slow it all down.

This is the part you think you’ll remember forever. And then somehow, it becomes a blur.

Fall family photos don’t have to mean matching outfits, pumpkins and everyone smiling perfectly at the camera.

They can look like an apple picnic, pancakes in pajamas, an afternoon on the farm, little hands hanging laundry on a clothesline or roasting marshmallows together as the sun goes down.

The best sessions give your family something to do, somewhere to explore and plenty of room to simply be together. Less posing, more playing, movement, connection and all the little moments that happen in between.

Your family doesn’t need another perfectly posed photo. Let’s make a memory instead.

There’s something so tender about photographing a family right in the middle of becoming.

Paige + Alain, two little ones underfoot, and one more baby already so deeply loved. Just an ordinary evening at home, full of soft light, tiny routines, belly kisses, bedtime stories, and all the little moments that someday won’t feel so little.

This is the kind of maternity story I love most. Not just what your family looks like right now, but what this season feels like.

There’s something almost impossible to put into words about watching the little girl you grew up with become someone’s mama.

I’ve known Victoria through almost every version of her life, but getting to witness this one feels especially beautiful. Seeing the softness, the excitement, the way Blake looks at her, and knowing there’s already this whole little person woven into the love between them.

These two make creating feel like play. Nothing needs to be overly planned or perfected. We laugh, we let Blake do whatever ridiculous thing is inevitably going to make Victoria smile, and somewhere in between, moments like these happen.

Maybe that’s why I love these photographs so much. They feel like them. Simple, tender, a little playful, and so full of love.

And someday, their baby will get to look at these and see just how loved they were before they were ever even here.

I think one of the strangest parts of motherhood must be how loudly the firsts arrive… and how quietly the lasts leave.

The first smile. The first word. The first steps. You watch for them, celebrate them, write down the date.

But the lasts?

The last contact nap. The last bottle. The last time they ask to be carried. The last time their tiny hand reaches for yours crossing the street.

Most of them pass like any other Friday.

You don’t know to memorize it. You don’t know to hold on a few seconds longer. You don’t know that this version of them is quietly becoming someone new right in front of you.

And maybe that’s part of what makes motherhood so achingly beautiful.

You are always meeting who they’re becoming…

while quietly saying goodbye to who they were.

Six months of Abigail. 🤍

There is something so incredibly special about getting to watch a family’s story unfold through my lens. From waiting for her in her mama’s belly, to those tiny newborn days, and now somehow… six months of this sweet girl.

And six months might just be one of my favorite chapters to photograph. The gummy smiles and belly laughs. The tiny toes they’re constantly trying to grab. The wide-eyed curiosity over absolutely everything. Those squishy cheeks, the little rolls, and the way they light up the second they recognize mama or dad. It’s such a fleeting little in-between season, and there is so much magic tucked inside of it.

For Abigail’s six-month session, we captured this chapter in the sweetest, most timeless way. A vintage pram, a beautiful evening, and a family whose love for one another seems to spill into every single frame.

Getting to document these milestones is something I’ll never take for granted. Watching Abigail grow, and watching Sarah and Tyler grow right alongside her, has been such a beautiful reminder that these photographs become more than photographs.

They become little pieces of a story you get to keep forever.

And today, this sweet girl is officially six months old. Happy half birthday, Abigail. You are so, so loved.

There are clients you photograph… and then there are the ones who somehow become family along the way.

I’ve been photographing Zoe and her sweet little family since Freya was still tucked inside her belly. I’ve watched them step into parenthood, watched that tiny baby grow through every little milestone, and had the privilege of preserving so many chapters of their story over the last two years.

And somewhere between maternity photos, newborn snuggles, first birthdays, fairy gardens, and all the ordinary magic in between… they stopped feeling like clients and started feeling like chosen family.

Now here we are again.

Only this time, it’s baby brother’s turn. 🥹

Another little life to wait for. Another newborn to meet. Another first year filled with tiny milestones and fleeting seasons. And I get to be here for it all over again.

There is something so incredibly special about being invited back into a family’s story, year after year. To watch their babies grow, to watch their family change and expand, and to know that the photographs we’ve created together are becoming part of their family history.

Zoe, Kevin & Freya, I love you guys endlessly. And baby boy, you have absolutely no idea how loved you already are.

There is so much about the newborn days that you swear you’ll never forget.

The button nose. The impossibly tiny lashes. The peach fuzz on their shoulders. The way their whole hand wraps around one of your fingers. The little stretches, sleepy smiles, milk-drunk snuggles, and the way they somehow fit perfectly against your chest.

And then, somehow, they grow.

This season has been an especially tender one for me.

Over the last year, I’ve had the privilege of watching several of my closest friends step into motherhood. I’ve photographed growing bellies, waited anxiously for “she’s here” texts, walked into homes still wrapped in that hazy newborn bubble, and watched women I’ve known and loved for years become mothers right in front of me.

And then I met Charlotte Elizabeth. 🦋

One afternoon, not long after she was born, I got to just sit there and hold her for a while.

And something about that tiny girl sleeping in my arms cracked me wide open.

I realized how beautiful this chapter of my own life is, too.

I may not be a mama yet, but right now I get to be part of the village. I get to love my friends through pregnancy and postpartum. I get to hold their babies when they need two free hands. I get to watch these tiny humans grow up and be another person in their corner who has loved them from the very beginning.

And maybe one day, when they’re bigger, they’ll ask me what they were like when they were this small.

And I’ll get to tell them.

But even better… I’ll get to show them.

The fuzzy shoulders. The tiny toes. The way their mama looked at them. The way their daddy held them. The home they first came home to. All the little details that felt so ordinary in the moment, but became priceless with time.

Maybe that’s why photographing motherhood feels even more sacred to me lately.

Because I’m witnessing firsthand just how much happens in these quiet chapters. How much a woman changes. How quickly a baby grows. How deeply a family is being born alongside them.

And all of it deserves to be remembered.

If you’re expecting, don’t wait until they’re here to decide whether these moments are worth documenting.
