I have always been so drawn to the simplicity and beauty of nature.
As a child, I was constantly outside discovering new things. When I got to high school, I read Walden by Henry David Thoreau and I finally felt as if somebody understood nature the way I saw it.
As I’m coming up on my 32nd birthday this year, it marks almost 20 years of doing photography and having a true passion for showing things to people in a way that they may not see themselves.
I feel that Henry David Thoreau went out to that lake to do the same thing. To be able to show the beauties of nature, to allow people to sit and reflect on the little things while not being drawn down by the evils of society that we as men have created ourselves.
As a photographer, I often get asked what is my favorite thing to photograph. the answer is nature. Not too many people are impressed by me saying that, so then I usually say automotive or product/branding photography after. That’s when people start to ask questions and want to see my work. From a digital side, when I post things about nature it gets the least amount of engagement. I don’t share my photos to do it for that. Although, I wish that there was more engagement with it.
I feel that more and more time goes on, We are losing touch with nature as a society. Which is a little unsettling to me. I feel that it is my responsibility to continue to share my findings of nature’s beautiful and ever changing landscape.
So my advice is to get outside and do a little exploring. Go discover the beauties of mother nature and what we have while, we have it. escape from everything we have created for just a moment to appreciate Mother Nature.
We need to do more to protect her.
She’s a keeper. 🌎💚
