The final photo vs the inspiration (Yes guys, it's me!) 🇻🇳

When I asked Gui Scheffer | Commercial Photographer to do my new branding photos, I wanted to honor the strong, resilient women in my life who encouraged me to become the photographer and artist I am today as well as commemorating the last project I completed during my university days.

My Bà Ngoài is incredibly wise from her lived experiences, but has never lost her spontaneity and zest for life; her strength, passion, and uniquely Vietnamese pride are something I seek to embody through my own practice and business. The original photo was taken completely impromptu one afternoon with just a single speedlite held off to the side by my mom.

My photobook "Nhớ", meaning to miss and to remember in Vietnamese, was the final project I completed as part of my bachelor's degree. In February, that same photo of my Bà Ngoài was featured in USF's Thread Magazine, which was the first publication my photographic work has ever been accepted in. Every Nguyen family woman shares my Bà Ngoài's fire, and I am no different.

Thank you again to Gui and Kierra for bringing my vision to life!
