There are so many beautiful moments from this year. Many friends old and new who have shown so much support! I truly am humbled and filled with love from all of you.

For me, I was able to achieve a big goal, thanks to Tessa and Mitch!

My birth photography will look different from my regular work as you can see here, but the lessons I have learned this past year made it possible for me to work quickly in a new environment and still capture timeless moments!

Next years goal:

Finish my birth photography classes so I am an official certified birth photographer and book more time in the delivery room!!! It’s one of my new favorite places to be :)

Sarah is definitely a naturally born model!! 📸 🤩

She was game to get up early on her Saturday, drive out to the boonies and brave one of the first seriously cold days of the season!

It happened and it was the most thrilling experience, besides giving birth to my own babes :)

Having the opportunity to not only witness a mama give birth, but the chance to capture these singular moments was beyond what I expected.

Many know, the months leading up to birth are not on my favorites list. Labor and delivery has always been my highlight during pregnancy. A year ago I heard about birth photography. At first thought, like many others, not for me. But I couldn’t get it out of my brain. I was drawn back, again and again to the photos.

You guys, these are the moments you visibly get to see complete unconditional love, strength, perseverance, beauty, humility, service, joy, and so many other qualities. I knew this was my journey in photography, this is what I’ve been working towards with all the classes I’ve taken. I was always meant to be back in the labor and delivery rooms, capturing these pure, raw, beautiful moments for other moms to be reminded of what they accomplished. The strength, many of us mamas tend to forget as we go on to raise these children we birthed.

I cannot thank Tessa and Mitchell enough for allowing me into their birth. It solidified my confidence in continuing in birth photography. As I continue to edit their photos and am taken back to their moment, I am in complete awe of Tessa! I hope, Tessa, you are able to be reminded of your beauty and strength!

I wish I had something cute or clever to say, but in all honesty, I just wanted share this sweet little girl. She was beautiful and definitely not feeling picture day, but we still ended up with some keepers! Thank you Maggie Blanchard for giving me a call! It was a joy to witness the patience and complete love you have for your crew!

I talk to my babes each day when they return from school about one favorite moment or a favorite Spanish word they learned that day.

Here is one of my favorite moments in photography... It usually happens after about 5-10 minutes into the session, when all pleasantries have been said and everyone has seemed to settle in and we get a little more comfortable with each other. For the next hour, instead of trying to get everyone to give a genuine smile, we are working to actually get everyone to settle back down so we can get that one "family wall" shot! I love to take a second to peek over the camera and witness the beauty of family. A family that has experienced a lot of life together. To watch these moments is a gift for me. I love to see how each family I get to photograph is different in so many ways, but all so beautiful.

However your family looks at this moment, don't wait for it to be social media perfect to capture the beauty it has. It is already perfect in how it was meant to be, in this moment, right now.

Lately I have been thinking a lot about growth.

When I first began photography I had never taken a class, or really had that burning desire to be a photographer. Cue my babes and it started to shift for me, but the reason wasn't a fluffy one :) I honestly began this photography journey because I wanted to save money. We didn't have the funds to pay for family pictures every year or to capture the first year of my sweet babes. I figured I would take "good enough" pictures to be happy. Five years later and that mindset has definitely changed. I'm not happy with just "good enough", I want to be tagged a true professional in the field. I'm still learning, but seeing these two pictures, taken two years apart, I can see that growth I've been working on! It isn't perfect, and it never will be, which is part of the beauty! (Also can be very frustrating, but hey, I'm human :) )

So here is to the next two years of growth and improvement!
