How do you react to this photo when it's edited in black and white versus color? I'm curious to hear whether one has more emotional pull than the other in your opinion.

And also, I've taken a lot of photos of hands in my career because I find them so expressive, but this photo from Baby L's newborn session might top them all with the sweetest paw and little fingers.

I think this photo may only appeal to other birders, but if I attract more couples who are excited to have their portrait time interrupted by the call of a Red-shouldered Hawk, I'll truly be over the moon. More to come soon from L+E's wedding at the lovely Briar Barn Inn. They even had a Snowy Owl cake topper!!!

Exciting news! I'm debuting "Read to Me" mini sessions Saturday, April 10th at Olio - Event Space, a stunning modern event space in Peabody, MA with massive amounts of air and new HVAC systems since it was just remodeled from an old theatre in 2019. I'll share more details in the comments, but briefly, sessions are 20-25 minutes in length, and with the investment of $400 comes a private gallery of professionally edited photos delivered digitally with printing rights. There are only five remaining slots available (the 9 am has just been taken), so reach out soon if you're interested in more information.

What a difference 24 hours makes in New England!

As I edit the last few intimate weddings of my 2020 season, I am struck with how much love and connection I was blessed to witness and photograph. Despite all the challenges that faced couples, despite the world unraveling before our eyes....couples clung to each other in quarantine and made the tough decisions together. Some postponed their weddings, others cut their guest lists from 200 to 25 (or fewer), and several planned an Act I intimate ceremony with an Act II celebration to be held in 2021 or beyond. They held “micro” backyard weddings with fresh air and social distancing measures. Hand sanitizer bottles were personalized. Masks were offered alongside ceremony programs. Venues adapted their offerings, planners put out fire after fire, florists, DJ’s, cake bakers, makeup and hair artists, videographers, bands, and so many other types of wedding vendors worked hard to move with their couples to new dates or adapt their offerings under difficult circumstances. It’s been.... a heck of a year.

I’m hopeful that the 2021 wedding season will allow for more hugs, more loved ones able to celebrate in person, and more of the messy and sweaty elation spread freely at weddings pre-Covid. For now, please mask up, vote for science, and continue to spread kindness.

I've been sharing photos of recent all-outdoor micro weddings on Instagram lately, but yesterday's intimate wedding at The House of the Seven Gables with the Hawthorne Hotel catering might have been the most magical yet. The sun was setting during S+B's toasts with the gardens and historic buildings in the background, their first dance was under the moon (with both Saturn and Jupiter visible too!!!), and the "blue hour" kept getting better and better. Does anyone else melt over that deep shade of cobalt in photos?

C+B were married yesterday at Willowdale Estate, a very special place nestled in the middle of a state forest- a fitting location for a couple that loves hiking together and being outdoors!

As I was heading out the door, one of B's awesome bridesmaids stopped me to thank me and tell me she was excited to see the photos. I told her I promised C+B a few previews soon, but I got a little carried away this morning...

Many congratulations to C+B and their families, and I can't wait to share more soon!

2019 at Willowdale Estate was awesome. I caught a really interesting historic house tour that pointed out some new details of the building, ate the BEST chocolate espresso desert at a Red Door Supper Club (which kept me up late because I'm a light-weight when it comes to caffeine at night😂), spent the loveliest summer solstice under the courtyard cafe lights with live music and a delicious cheese board, and had a BLAST at the annual Halloween Party.

I hope many of you can catch one of their public events in the coming year. Here's to 2020, Willowdale!

Happening today from 12:30 to 3:30 in Cambridge, MA- the 15th Annual Boston LGBTQ Wedding Expo!

I've exhibited at a few different wedding expos in the past because I love meeting couples in person, and I'm especially excited to participate in this one for the second year in a row. The two women behind RainbowWeddingNetwork.com have lived an inspiring (and somewhat nomadic life I imagine!) since 2004 to serve the LGBTQ+ community by putting on these expos all over the country.

A little Gothic, a little Medieval, and a little Victorian themed, A+E's beautiful handfasting at my alma mater Wellesley College was a LOT of fun to photograph. Things I loved about Saturday:

-The handfasting ceremony and how their friends and family formed a large circle of love for the couple.
-A's dress and E's vest were amazing, custom made, and purple!!!
-The reception involved tables named after their favorite animals, a spooky photo backdrop, and a nighttime bubble exit in which the couple had an encore dance to their first dance song, but this time sung by their people under the night sky.

Cambridge City Hall is one of my favorite spots for an intimate wedding, and J+D were an absolute delight on their wedding day. Her dress was polka dotted!!! And the red velvet seats in the chamber with the window light...gah. Enjoy!

Many congrats to M+S who were married last night at Black Swan Country Club in Georgetown, MA! I loved meeting their families and friends, and despite rumblings in the distance, the rain held off for our portraits outside and then stopped again so we could sneak out for a few dreamy sunset photos.

P.S. I'm going to call these "6 AM Sneak Previews" because it's fun to pluck and edit a few stand-outs from the batch after I've backed up the photos from the night before!
