Happy Birthday to the Studio Manager.

After years of dedicated service, Karen has mastered the fine art of:
• Holding leashes while pretending this is a normal thing adults do
• Standing in fields at sunrise because "the light is better"
• Nodding supportively when I say, "I have an idea..." and it turns into a six-month construction project
• Explaining to visitors why there are goats, chickens, nine dogs, bamboo, vintage luggage, and a pet photography studio all in the same place

Some heroes wear capes.

The last cut. Trunk #18.

We delayed this decision for a long time.
These old cedars have been part of the gardens for decades, and saying goodbye wasn't easy.
Today I watched the final trunk come down.

The skyline has changed.
The light has changed.
The view from the studio has changed.

And now, for the first time in a very long time, I can finally start imagining what comes next.
I have a feeling it's going to be beautiful.
