Jade Creates Welcome to DLC Photography's page! What is DLC you ask? DLC are the initials of my father, the late Darrell Lee Comstock. pretty much whatever!

All throughout my life he taught me to be the best I can be, work hard to achieve your dreams and to never give up. In December of 2008 my father lost his fight to Lung cancer. My photography is my gift to his memory. I am a graduate in Agricultural Communications and Journalism at the great Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. I love taking pictures of people, animals, places, things.. It is

my goal as your photographer to provide you with a positive and fun expeirence! Getting your photos taken should be fun and exciting, not something to fear. I love people and making them happy. Let's make you one of them. We have this hope like an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. Hebrews 6:19

After the 4th we move right to fall right?! 😅 Well let’s start thinking about fall photos. When should you book fall photos with me in Kansas? (Especially the Salina area)
Let’s break it down with someone who’s been doing this for a few years.

September:
Pros:
Beautiful golden sunsets
Comfortable temps for kids (and husbands 😉)
More outfit flexibility
Less likely to feel chilly

Cons:
Kansas can still feel like summer
Most trees haven’t started changing yet

October:
Pros:
Cooler temperatures
Sweaters, boots, layers
Peak “fall feeling”
Beautiful light

Cons:
The most popular month
Kansas weather can change overnight

My favorite window for fall color in Salina?
The last week of October through the first week of November is usually when we get the best mix of those golden, orange, and red tones.

November:
Pros:
Gorgeous warm, earthy tones
Cozy outfits photograph beautifully
More intimate, snuggly sessions
Less busy than October

Cons:
Cooler temperatures
Earlier sunsets
More wind potential

Fall weekends are some of my busiest dates of the year, and the best times for color in Kansas don’t last long.

If you want a fall session, especially a weekend date, do not wait to grab you spot. Reach out soon to get on my calendar.

And if you’re looking for something quick and easy- Heirloom sessions will be the last weekend of October and first weekend in November. Be watching for those to be released soon!
