Leopards in the Mara are masters of disappearing. After hours of scanning acacia branches and grass lines without success, a corner turned on an evening drive revealed this cat draped along a fallen trunk. The last light caught the rosettes along his back while the rest of his body melted into shadow. He was not hiding so much as occupying a pocket of the landscape that concealed him until the angle changed. Billy Twala, the Masai driver, stopped without a word because he had seen what I had not. That trust is part of how frames like this get made.
