Meet Laurie

Hey there! I’m Laurie- creator and photographer behind S&L Photography. I’m a 27 year old family and wedding photographer, wife to my high school sweetheart, mother to an adorable red headed three year old boy, and fur mama to my 12 year old husky/malamute mix named Dodger and 8 year old tabby cat named Oliver- just doing life in Salisbury, MD. I’m East Coast born and raised, but having spent 6 years in Lawrence, KS (go Jayhawks!), part of my heart will always belong to the Midwest. I bought my first canon dslr in 2012 and haven’t looked back!

I consider myself an intimate, lifestyle photographer and specialize in children and families, though I also take on a limited number of weddings each year. Light, sun filled, colorful images are my favorite. My camera bag stays pretty simple- a couple of prime lenses are all I need for most sessions. My goal as a photographer is to create a fun and relaxing environment so I can document families just playing and being themselves. My favorite images are always full of emotion, detail, and movement- the way your daughter twirls in her dress, the way you brush her hair back to kiss her forehead, the excitement in your son’s face when he shows you a new rock or stick he found, and the way you smile and hang on every word he says. Capturing intimate, genuine moments between couples and families is what I live for! I do not shy away from harsh light and shadows. I want to beautifully document the moment for what it is; I fully believe that as a photographer my job is first and foremost to be a story teller. If you are looking for standard posing, or studio sessions with lots of props, I’m not your girl- and I’m ok with that!

I am naturally detail oriented and hold myself to high standards in all that I do. Every part of my photography process, from choosing equipment, location scouting and session styling, helping clients plan outfits and session timing, to editing and product packaging/presentation, is thoughtfully done with attention to detail and quality. I pride myself on my quick turnaround time for both online galleries and product delivery. I want my clients to have the best, because you deserve it!
