My deepest condolences to the Guerra Family. It was incredibly sad to hear of Manny’s passing, but I find comfort knowing he is in better hands with our Lord.
Manny mentored me throughout my forty years in the media industry. I still remember, as if it were yesterday, when Pat Alvarado and Chano Elizondo gathered the entire production team at Marsal Productions. They emphasized the utmost care, quality measures, and checks and balances required when working on Manny’s cassettes. The day I met Manny, I was mesmerized by his passion—especially as he just produced Selena’s “Dulce Amor” recording, that we were about to manufacture on cassette.
But more than a working relation, I got to know Manny as a true friend. I cherished our long conversations, whether we were discussing how to fix a fence or how to grow closer to God. Manny insisted on doing things the right way, teaching me patience and attention to detail. During those moments, our talks would drift from work to faith, and Manny always found a way to inspire me to be a better person.
Thank you, Rosalinda, for allowing me to have this incredible relationship with Manny. Your kindness in sharing Manny’s time and friendship meant the world to me. I will miss him deeply, but I will carry him in my heart always, remembering not just the music he made, but the laughter, wisdom, and faith we shared.
