I’ve been thinking, as one does.
I’m in the midst of my rebrand. Uncovering what it is I’m really trying to say with my words and in my work. Who I serve, and serve well: overall the whole direction I’m headed.
A couple days ago, a fellow photographer copied my words for their own rebrand. Which, annoying, but it did make me stop, and look. I looked at their website and things they said and realized: I sounded like that, and I didn’t like it. A bunch of words that describe a style of photography or the moments that’ll be captured (guys I have REALLY been hating that word *cqptured* blech).
My words in the past have been so forced and overthought and just not real. Trying to fit a niche or a market maybe? Probably another little sheep, following the herd in my field. Idk, but coming from a human whose everyday vocabulary consists of “bet” “dude” “freaking” “cool” “absolutely” “stop”, that’s just not me.
So I’m writing this here, for the record. Some for y’all, but mostly for me:
It’s your wedding, you want incredible photos to remember it by. I’m not sure why it’s so hard to just come out and say that. If you’ve been searching for a wedding photographer (or are one lol) for a while now I’m sure you’ve seen so much industry jargon about timeless images and documentary style and editorial feel. These are great things, these describe common ways of shooting and editing (that yes, I do do - hehehe doo doo), but let me break it down:
I take damn good pictures that you will look freaking incredible in.
I think that’s far easier to understand, but there I go again - thinking.
Anywho, this is Julia Bonugli, 2024
SERVING YOU, AS ME
Let’s freaking get it my dudes ❤️🔥🫦
