She walked into her session pretty quiet and a little unsure of what she was supposed to do.

Where do I look? What do I do with my hands? Am I posing right?

Totally normal.

We took our time, moved around, changed things up, and eventually she started to relax. Then she saw the back of my camera, and I could see her confidence start to kick in.

And honestly, that’s my favorite part of senior sessions.

It’s not about making them look like someone they’re not. It’s about getting them comfortable enough to just be themselves.

Once they stop worrying about the camera, that’s when I get the good stuff. The real smiles, the laughs, the confidence.

Those are the images I want their families to have forever.

I don’t take that for granted.
That’s not just a compliment. That’s someone telling me they trust me with a moment they haven’t even lived yet.
That kind of loyalty is what I think about when I ask myself why I do this work.
It’s not the images alone (though I love those too). It’s that families come back. They send their friends. They save my name in their phone and they don’t forget it.
That means everything to me.

In case you are wondering… I’m still here! It’s been a while since I posted something but haven’t taken a break from getting behind the camera.

Summer has always been a season of rest for me, and although I haven’t exactly stopped working, I did make it a point to say “no” to lots of things… such as posting on social media. This made room for more important things!

I’m still chasing that magical golden light and beautiful locations. So when I drove by this field of sunflowers, I immediately knew I had to grab my camera! The summer heat couldn’t keep me away from photographing this sweet girl on a perfect July evening!

I love when personal style shows up in the best ways during senior sessions.

It’s not always the main outfit or the posed shot. Sometimes it’s the shoes they almost didn’t wear. The jacket they threw on last minute. The way they style their hair versus how they thought they’d style it.

Those details are the ones I look for because they’re the ones that make an image feel like that specific person and not just a senior photo.
No two sessions look the same. That’s not an accident - it’s the whole point.

My favorite part about senior sessions is this.

You show up a little unsure… kinda stiff, not really knowing what to do, maybe feeling a little awkward. Totally normal. And then a few minutes in, you loosen up. You stop thinking about the camera and just start being yourself—and it shows.

That’s the part I love every single time.

Senior year just hits different. You’re right on the edge of what’s next, even if you don’t fully know what that looks like yet. Getting to capture you as you are right now—that’s my favorite part.

I didn’t start photographing seniors because it was a “good market.”

I started because this season—senior year—is just different.

It’s that in-between where they’re holding everything at once… who they’ve been, who they’ve become, and everything they’re about to step into. And that matters to me.

This was never about finding a niche. It’s something I genuinely believe in.

These sessions aren’t just about pretty photos. They’re about capturing something real from a season that doesn’t come back around.

The gown didn’t arrive until spring. The session was done. And now graduation is weeks away.

That gap is exactly why these pop-up sessions exist.
