Here’s one of my biggest tips for family sessions - let your kids be kids! What that means to me is letting kids have fun and show off their personalities. If your kid doesn’t want to stay still, that’s great! I’ll prompt you to play with them, I’ll document them playing in their environment, and we’ll just have the best time together! Working with me means that you can love on your kids, be spontaneous, and trust that I will capture the sweetest moments. Really though, I will run around, squat, stand on my tippy toes, whatever it takes to create the best photos for you 😉

Are these not the sweetest and snuggliest engagement photos?!? 🥰 I had the best time with these two! My engagement sessions are both fun and intimate. It’s all about creating an environment in which I can document you and your significant other just enjoying being together. Booking info at link in bio!

✨ News flash! ✨

I still love macro photography! Does that really come as a surprise to anyone, though? 😜 I’ve been brainstorming a blog post about how my approach to nature and lifestyle photography are the same. From nature photography taken across the street from my apartment (ex this photo) to family photos that capture your family being themselves, it’s all about celebrating life as it really is. You don’t have to travel around the world or do something extraordinary to capture a beautiful moment 💕

Erica darleyensis. There’s something pretty magical about purple flowers with that golden hour light. ❤️ if you agree! These little flowers are so tiny. Should have taken a photo to show just how small.

This 1 year old was so smiley during his family’s session! This session was so much fun for me, because the little one was having so much fun! What’s the secret? Play! Mom and dad played with him the entire time, giving him cuddles, tickles, and funny faces. But don’t let that fool you into thinking I did nothing as their photographer! I brought them to ideal locations, gave them directions about how to stand together and hold their little one, guided them through different prompts, and made my fair share of funny faces and noises. That’s the beauty of lifestyle photography! It’s a lovely mix of a photographer guiding and promoting you, while you interact naturally with your loved ones. It can be so beautifully collaborative!

Pongo is a basketball star! Scroll through to see how excited and happy he is with his basketball. I had so much fun with Pongo and his mom during this session that it made me want to do more sessions like this. If you or anyone you know wants lovely photos with their doggo, fill out an inquiry form on my website. Link in bio!

I recently went to Portland to visit friends and took my camera and new 50mm f1.8 lens on a walk. It had been a while since I just went exploring with my camera like I used to. Between a cross country move last summer, caring for my mom, and a busy family photo season in the fall, life has just been a lot. It felt good to go out in nature without a plan and just capture things I found beautiful. There is so much beauty out there, even in winter, even when looking at small, dead plants on the side of a trail. It’s all about perspective. From above, this just looked like a dead plant amongst a lot of dead plants with some light hitting it. But squatting on the ground, letting the sunlight backlight the plant, the trees and sky out of focus behind it (the bokeh!), and focusing on one tiny clump of flowers… it all changes.
