6/27/23. The week I turned 26 was one of the most transformative weeks of my life.
I went into the week working 3 jobs (1 full-time 7:30-6, 1 part-time, 1 business launch). Burnt out, exhausted, and fearful about how I was going to manage everything moving forward.
On a whim, I decided to take a road trip up to Palo Duro and Colorado to be in nature and clear my head.
On the night of my birthday, I wrote down exactly how I wanted my life to look and feel. Working for myself, more time for fun and self-care, adopting a dog, etc.
The next morning, my full-time job called me and told me that they laid off 15% of their workforce and that I was impacted. I was shocked. Confused. Excited.
It's been 3 weeks since then. I have now officially launched my photography business and have had four client sessions, with a few more coming up. My work-life balance is better than it has been in years and I adopted my puppy, Wesley, last week (more pics to come 😉).
My life is completely different than when I left, it is almost unrecognizable.
Needless to say, It's been a whirlwind. But, as I've reflected, I've learned that you always have the power to make big changes in your life. You don't have to wait for the changes to happen to you. If what you're doing is not working for you, change it. Fear is natural, and you'll be okay.
With that, I'm stepping into the back half of my 20s feeling confident, optimistic, in awe, and ready for the ride. Enjoy the road trip pictures. The last photo accurately describes how I feel these days.
