There’s a lot that goes into creating a stunning aerial video for a client. Researching the property is really important to ensure you’re capturing the full value of the site. Depending on which direction the building is facing it is very important to film at a time of day that the sun will accent the building’s best features and not get in the way. Analyzing the site beforehand to make sure there are no unexpected obstacles your drone might come into contact with, making sure you stand in a good location away from the shot (I’m guilty of breaking this rule), adjusting the in-flight camera settings before you launch, and confirming you are cleared by the FAA to fly your drone in the area are all very important steps you must take when filming aerial video.
Post-production is equally as important to creating a great video. There is an art to choosing the best frames for the video, putting them in a sequence that tells a story, adding effects, color grading, and choosing the right music to fit the vibe of the project.
